A Virtual Lab to experiment on controlled fusion of two digital images has been developed. The resulting image has user pre-defined percentages of each contributing image. With the aim on improving the quality of the resulting image in the fusion, the Virtual Lab has been enabled with the option of selecting a color to be ignored during the fusion process, in this way this color is not fussioned. Successful experiments have been executed fusing three images using the same algorithm.

An algorithm to select a set of pixels above a predefined grey-level threshold from an image, extract it and transfer it to another image is presented; the result is a restricted overlapping of images, based on the Controlled (modulated) image difference technique. In some applications this thresholded overlapping may be an option to consider when the aim is the mixture of images.

An educational Virtual Lab, a software oriented to teaching and learning, applied to the study of the Thresholded Difference of grey-leveled images has been developed. This intuitively-easy-to-use Virtual Lab allows studying the threshold-controlled difference of two input images. Interesting results emerge when detecting the thresholded difference of pairs of images, like the effect appearing in the case of image subtraction of two completely different images, an effect setting up the basis for Controlled Image Fusion. Image difference algorithms belong to Digital Image Processing, a computer tool with every time more applications in science and in engineering.

The development of a Virtual Lab to perform experiments on histogram-based binarization of grey-leveled images is reported. With the aim of automatizing the binarization process, a Heuristic Binarization Threshold is introduced. Once the histogram of a grayscale input image is obtained, the module calculates a Heuristic Threshold by taking the weighted average of the foreground grey levels of the image. Next those pixels in input image whose grey levels are above this threshold are highlighted. Although still not experimentally optimum, this heuristic threshold provides a first approximation towards automatic binarization of greyscale images.

Digital Image Processing (DIP) books teach algorithms to digitally operate on images and include some figures to show the effects of those mathematical tools. In this report the creation of Imagery, a Virtual Laboratory for computer-assisted education (teaching and learning) of DIP is reported. Imagery can be used in the classroom, in the laboratory or at home. This software was developed to be used as a DIP laboratory, allowing the user to experiment with DIP algorithms, enabling him to see their effects on his own images. In the classroom Imagery helps the teacher in the exposition of the DIP topics he is covering; in the laboratory, Imagery can be used to carry out experiments supporting the topics covered in class; at home, this Virtual Lab can be used by the student to practice and thus reinforce the knowledge acquired in class. This software may also be used by the independent stud...

Advance spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer (aster) is the first sensor with multi band observation in thermal infrared region (8-12 micrometers) with 90 meters of spatial resolution and 5 spectral bands specially designed to discriminate rocks from earth crust. Different process were applied in order to discriminate alteration minerals and rock groups by using not only the thermal infrared band but also the visible and near infrared bands. The area of study is located is situated in the Department of Cuzco in the southern portion of the Peru Tertiary Volcanic Belt and located 170 kilometres northwest of Arequipa. The area lies within the Peruvian altiplano at an altitude of 4,470 to 5,370 metres. The availability of multispectral data from the satellite- borne ASTER (advance Spaceborne Thermal emission Reflection Radiometer) instrument has provided and increased potenti...

This article describes the fundamentals of digital image digital processing using a free-access, web user interface called Octave-Online. This interface is part of the GNU operating system software applications, as well as it is known as the equivalent of Matlab in free versión; for this reason, this tool was chosen in order to give a practical approach to the use of ten basic techniques of spatial processing of digital images. To do this, we started by collecting 8 files with image contents in JPG and with different characteristics such as high and low contrast, high and low frequency, shades of gray, and intensity of colors, to put the proposed processing techniques into practice. Subsequently, some guidelines were provided for access, upload of JPG files, creation of * .m extension files, and knowledge of certain tools offered by the Octave-Online web user in...

The creation of a Virtual Lab, integrated and interactive software, to perform histogram-based binarization of gray scaled images is reported. In an attempt to optimize the binarization the developed virtual lab introduces a Heuristic Binarization Threshold. At processing time, the module extracts the histogram of the input gray scaled image, and then a Heuristic Threshold is calculated by taking the weighted average of the foreground grey levels of the image. Next those pixels in input image whose grey levels are above this threshold are highlighted. Although still not experimentally optimum, this heuristic threshold provides a first approximation towards automatic optimum binarization of grey scaled images. For comparison purposes when an input image is operated on by the binarization module, it is possible to visualize up to three different binarizations on screen simultaneously, each...

Denoising diffusion probabilistic models (DDPMs) have demonstrated significant potential in addressing complex image processing challenges. This paper explores the application of DDPMs in three different areas: reconstruction of remote sensing imagery affected by cloud cover, reconstruction of facial images with occluded areas, and segmentation of bodies of water from remote sensing imagery. Inpainting involves filling in missing regions in images, while DDPMs act as data generators capable of synthesizing information that alings coherently with the context of the original data. Inspired by the inpainting technique, the RePaint approach was adapted and applied to reconstruction tasks. The WaterSegDiff approach, which uses a diffusion model as a backbone, was employed for the segmentation task. To illustrate the model’s behavior and provide examples of the tasks, experiments were carrie...

This study was conducted at the Ejercito, and Andres Avelino Caceres Avenues, which have an intense commercial activity, and one of the largest sources of visual pollution. Based in case research, the focus was in the problematic derivate from visual pollution with a qualitative and quantitative approach, firstly by obtaining information from various sources, through observation to identify places, secondly to conduct to know the opinion about elements, causes, effects, visual pollution. Finally, the analysis and processing of data where the main pollutants and visual information that shows the problem of visual pollution identified in the areas of greatest impact are revealed. Through this research, the intention is to identify the main pollutants that present these avenues, the visual impact on users that pass every day and the magnitude of the influence of such pollution in the urban ...

A Schlumberger resistivity record was made over an area of 50 hectares. A new field of processes based on the analytical signal response of the resistivity data was tested in the presence of disturbed phosphate deposits. Geology models were successively obtained from a peak model of the 2D resistivity data. The optimization of the imaging process was based on the optimization of surface tools. The descending analytical extension of the modeled surface over a depth of 30 meters was used for optimization of the modeling. The analytical processes found were consistently useful. The optimization of the phosphate reserve was improved and better constructed.
