In Peruvian Spanish the double possessive of the third person is observed in the speech variation among speakers in the following canonic form: article + N de + N (e.g., las primas de mi yerno) [literally, the cousins of my son-in-law] vs. possessive + N de + N (e.g., su hijo de mi hermana) [literally, her son of my sister]. We believe that this “redundant” genitive has expanded the function of removing ambiguity between two possessors and has begun a redistribution of semantic content as a significant signal, a specialized pragmatic tool or an intentional mechanism that expresses empathy in the face of an established relationship possessor-possessed. Our speech corpus is made up of interviews to Peruvian residents in Buenos Aires, a fact which has permitted us to distinguish between the meaning of the forms and the message in multi-cultural contexts. In that sense, the question “W...

It seeks to develop a mathematical model that predicts the decay of the temperature of the liquid steel spoon 15 TM. The shots were made in temperature castings production, measuring the temperature after excoriated and before emptying the holding furnace, the time was also recorded between the two jacks temperature. Then the data obtained was analyzed to obtain the parameters of the particular model (K and T0). The derivation of the model was obtained from an Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) homogeneous. Prognostic value of the model obtained with new values measured temperature was compared. To make the prognosis of two different values of temperature T0, one with a constant value of T0, as shown in the model found, and another with T0, a variable that was numerically equal to the temperature after excoriated were used, both forecasts were compared with various indicato...

In this paper we carry out a review about the Empirically Supported Treatment movement, pointing out its principal advantages and disadvantages and analyzing improvement proposals. In the first part of the article we introduce the topic, providing a historical perspective. Secondly, we focus on our main concerns: lack of coordination between research and its applications in the field, limitations when using the international classifications of mental disorders, standardization of treatment guidelines and differences between levels of evidence. Finally, the main proposals to overcome these limitations are discussed in order to improve the study of efficient psychological treatments of both mental and nonclinical psychological problems.

This research explores the perception of customers in Spain about interactions with chatbots as customer service agents and attempts to identify the communicative and marketing factors of success in this interactivity, which is growing in the Broadband Society. To achieve the research objectives, a quantitative methodology is followed through a survey aimed at Spanish clients without distinction of origin. The results show that customers’ perception of the chatbot depends on the context. If the customer’s question or request is simple, the perception is positive; if it is a complex question, the perception is negative. Furthermore, it is observed that the main factors that affect customer perception are quality and context. It is concluded that there is a relationship between the quality of the chatbot and customer satisfaction and it has been identified that the most important facto...

The growing visibility of violence in schools has caused multiple demands to know their condition in our societies. Given this, the conceptual, analytical and methodological challenges faced between those engaged in their empirical research are evident. However, many of those who face these challenges do not analyze the parallel processes that are configured as the research progresses. This is the case of changes about the role of students in this collective effort. The objective of this document is to analyze the advances and dilemmas of the empirical research on violence in Mexico, focusing on the implications derived from the legitimization of the voices of children and adolescents. This analysis based on the specialized literature on school violence and the voices of students, warns that although studies that conceive these populations as individuals capable of providing data on this...

This work addresses the concepts of testimonials, endorsement and celebrities from an advertising strategy and brand management perspective. Our goal is to study the way in which advertisers and advertising companies have used testimonials and the image of celebrities with commercial or corporate purposes in the context of advertisements included in the Cannes Film Festival from 2010 to 2020, within the Iberoamerican sphere. In order to do this, a content analysis was carried out of 280 pieces. In addition to quantifying the presence and strategic implications of the use of celebrities, it also provided data and conclusions concerning the endorsement technique and the use of advertising testimonials in general. Strategic positioning, types of objective, way of endorsement and celebrities characteristics have been analyzed. Results indicate that testimonials have been used in 41,1% of the...

The ideal of reason is central to contemporary accounts of citizenship in American constitutional law. The individual capacity for reasoned choice lies closely aligned with the constitutional values of personal liberty and democratic self-government as they have evolved in Supreme Court decisions over the past century. Yet as presently conceived, the ideal of reason in constitutional law overlooks the process by which individuals actually acquire the capacity to choose their own values and commitments or to engage in reasoned thinking about collective ends. This paper argues that we cannot hope to sustain and foster a constitutional polity committed to the principles of individual liberty and democratic self-government without knowing something about how individual citizens come to possess this requisite skill of mind. A developmental perspective on reason in constitutional law provides ...

University Social Responsibility (USR) is the ethical and transparent management of the administrative, educational, cognitive and social processes carried out by a higher education institution. More and more universities are practicing USR not only in Latin America but also in the United States and Europe, in order to reduce the negative impacts their daily operations can have on different stakeholders and on a macro level on society, the economy, and the environment. However, despite existing knowledge in the implementation of USR in Latin America and the Caribbean, there are few empirical studies that analyze the positions of diverse internal stakeholders regarding USR practices mainly in the Caribbean. Therefore, this study analyzes the perspectives of the internal stakeholders in social responsibility initiatives and processes at a private university in Puerto Rico. A total of 533 p...

This study aims at systematizing and integrating research findings about Future Time Perspective (FTP) in Peruvian educational contexts. FTP is a motivational psychological variable that allows explaining the present behavior, considering goals set in the future. The construct demonstrated its theoretical and empirical strength in different contexts. During the second half of the XXth Century Nuttin and Lens (1985) applied the variable in different fields, especially the educational one. Their proposal considered the cognitive and motivational properties of FTP; its density, extension and level of realism was then reported. Empirical research has been conducted to date under this theoretical background; however, a decade ago this concept was redirected to a multidimensional proposal conceptualized as Future Orientation (FO) considering three components: motivational, cognitive and beha...

Although corruption within prisons is not necessarily a new phenomenon, this article offers, through quantitative data from a survey (MQPL questionnaire adapted to Chile) applied in 2022 in 20 Chilean prisons (n = 1,159), an empirical view of it from the perspective of incarcerated individuals and offers an exploration of its predictive factors. The perception of corruption was operationalized through the dependent variable “in this prison things move with money”, which was modeled through multiple linear regression, where various predictors were incorporated into the model, which was able to explain 32.5% of the variation in the perception of corruption. The independent variables negatively associated with corruption were the perception of good functioning of the prison, the existence of clear rules within the prison, the perception of receiving fair treatment and respect for rights...

This study sought to determine the relationships between Future Time Perspective, Self-Care Behaviors, and Mental Health, and to compare the results based on the adolescents' sex. A total of 181 adolescents participated and answered three questionnaires measuring each of the variables involved. The results of the structural model suggest that Future Time Perspective influences self-care behaviors, which impact mental health. Significant correlations were found between Future Time Perspective and self-care behaviors (r = 0.47, p < 0.001) and mental health problems (r = -.20, p < 0.001), as well as differences based on the adolescents' sex in self-care behaviors (t = 2.09, p < 0.05). The findings of this study contribute to the literature on mental health in adolescents with theoretical and practical implications, establishing an empirical model that links future time perspective ...
