Three hundred fifty-seven university records of students reported as undergoing academic problems were studied between Abril 1990 and August 1996. Research was aimed at determining the contributing factors to the problem and also at designing academic support programs and psychopedagogical support actions, and others on a preventive basis. Three study areas were selected: intelligence, as assessed through the WAIS test; personality as assessed through both the GuilfordZimmerman Temperament and the MMPI Inventories; and study habit, through Brown’s Study Abilities Survey.

This work describes and evaluates the application of a module to increase the specific abilities set in action when students resolve math problems. Such abilities are: analyzing the problem, identifying and laying out strategies, applying algorithms and revising the process that leads to the solution. The module presents problems solved by the teacher (modelling strategies) and uses the work of peers in order to consolidate and evaluate the work. The study uses a quasi experimental design with two pre defined groups, pre and post test. The sample was not probabilistic and was formed by 70 students. A test with 10 math problems was used as the instrument meant for the students to use the four strategies suggested in the module. Results show a difference in favor of the experimental group, which allows us to conclude that the module has an influence in the evaluated abilities.

The research addresses the problem of violence against women. To do this, it defines genderbased violence in its various manifestations, details the evolution of international and national regulations on this matter and analyzes the official statistics provided by the competent state institutions. Later, it explains and sustains that the penal system does not resolve social conflicts, to later affirm and sustain that criminality is produced by the design of the social structure, and is learned in social interaction. Finally, it proposes the “government of crime” as an effective mechanism to reduce criminality against women to tolerable limits.

Behavioral problems in the classroom have a negative impact on the emotional well-being of students, as well as on the learning process and classroom climate. This study aimed to describe the behavioral problems observed in the classroom, according to teachers' reports. A questionnaire created for this study was answered by 55 teachers, (female = 70,9% and men = 29,1%), among five schools of Chillán, Chile. Teachers indicated that among the behavioral problems, non-compliance behavior is observed with frequency (43,6%). This study is a starting point for future investigation on this topic, that addresses regional and national phenomena.

The author analyzes the problem of the application of life imprisonment in the crime of rape of minors, provided for in Article 173 of the Peruvian Criminal Code. He considers that although the Peruvian Supreme Court and Constitutional Court have reaffirmed its constitutionality, in the face of exceptional situations that arise in each particular case (grounds for reduction of punishability, procedural bonuses and personal circumstances of both the victim and the aggressor), the criminal law has not provided for the possibility of reducing the penalty to limits below the legal minimum, which in many cases has led to the legal operator of lower instances, despite such assumptions, to impose disproportionate penalties, far from the principle of guilt. The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) are independent methodologies, that can be used and developed freely, but can be an important enhancer when you want to achieve innovation if they work together. The objective of this article is to present an analysis of the customers’ requirements in a product manufactured with biodegradable materials, the output result when applying the QFD was the quality critic related to toxicity, while the input information for the matrix TRIZ’s technical contradictions were the translation of the quality critic to one of the 39 technical design parameters, corresponding to parameter 30 (Harmful factors acting on the object from outside), being considered as the transfer point between the methodologies thus achieving the integration of both.

The problem of antimicrobial resistance, is as old as the creation of the first antimicrobial, its irrational and indiscriminate use, has put in competition to the same bacterium who trying to survive generates mechanisms to evade these antimicrobials that the human being creates for the purpose with more spectrum, generating a vicious and endless cycle. Among its most successful mechanisms is the creation of enzymes called beta-lactamases which hydrolyze beta-lactams, the most widely used antimicrobial family in our times. Generating real public health problems in countries where their presence is evident above 50%, dramatically affecting morbidity, mortality and costs. From the foregoing, we believe it is necessary to understand the problem from the beginning, evaluating its evolution in different realities and the therapeutic alternatives we have in front of them.

In the last half century,there were several attempts to adopt the notion of supervenience in order to shed light on the claim of generality that is involved in aesthetic judgments. In this paper I will show the difficulties brought up by the transposition of the notion of supervenience from other areas of philosophy to the philosophy of art and I will also show the intrinsic difficulties of this project. First, I will revise the origins of the notion of supervenience in contemporary ethics and philosophy of mind, as well as the theoretical framework in which this notion was first introduced. Archives provide the basis for national historical narratives, a premise for nation-building. However, Peru’s government administration problems extend to national archives: insufficient maintenance resources and inadequate service to the public. This creates a duality (i.e., enormous potential yet bad services), which is especially noticeable in the «Archivo Agrario». Collected in the 1970s by Peruvian researchers, the «Archivo Agrario» is unique in Latin America, given the variety and origin of the documents. In this essay, and using my research as an example, I explore the challenges and, more importantly, the opportunities afforded by this archive —and the urgent need to transform it radically.

This paper analyzes the difficulties the clinical gynecologist for diagnosis of pelvic endometriosis and adenomyosis; which it is often performed after surgery or histiopatológico study. In this paper, the casuistry of Gynaecology of the Archbishop Loayza Hospital analyzed by studying 40 cases diagnosed in some of the locations of genital endometrium; emphasis is to point out that the laparoscopic diagnostic method is a breakthrough for identification of pelvic endometriosis. Is the expediency of adopting a classification of the extent of injuries, for a proper therapeutic approach using the classification of Kistner and thus to make a prognosis regarding the evolution of the disease after medical treatment and / or surgical, emphasizing fertility prognosis of many patients affected.

This article aims to provide a new concept of industrial processes, the so-called sustainable industrial processes that are used in industrial plants and competitive companies responsible for developing chemicals. These innovative processes should incorporate in its design stages that are efficient, producing less waste and scrap, not pollute the environment, using substances which are safe, and the products and by-products produced by them. These processes must be safe, both internally (for workers) and externally (for communities and ecosystems) and must contribute to sustainable development, ensuring the efficient use of natural resources and promoting the use of renewable resources. An example is the production cellulose pulp that is produced throughout Latin America (Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay), but a sustainable industrial process can be developed nationally.
