In 2020, the subject Science for Citizenship was included in the Chilean school curriculum in response to the global challenges to move towards scientific literacy to encourage citizens to participate in decision making for their personal lives or in their participation socially. The objective of the research was to understand the contributions of the subject Science for Citizenship to the Chilean school curriculum to advance toward scientific literacy.This article presents a descriptive analysis of the Chilean educational policy documents, based on the review of the purposes, approaches, modules, and learning objectives of the Science for Citizenship subject. The findings show that the curriculum promotes the acquisition, use, critical analysis, creation, and communication of information that addresses science and technology.

Este artículo analiza las políticas de desarrollo docente en contraste con las narrativas cotidianas de tres profesores en Chile que han debido sortear eventos críticos en su docencia. Se realizó un estudio narrativo con entrevistas en dos momentos (2017 y 2021). Los resultados muestran discordancia de ambas narrativas y la escasa pertinencia de la política para la profesionalización docente. Se discute la relación con las formas de contrahegemonía al neoliberalismo educativo y la distancia de las políticas educativas respecto de las dimensiones personales de la profesión docente.

The article analyzes the complex relationship between cultural selection of curriculum and the diverse nature of the societies in which it is inserted. From a qualitative approach, we analyze the teachers’ discourses of the Metropolitan Region about their representations on the political issues and the Politics and on the importance of curriculum and its possibilities for the attention to the diversity from the formation in citizenship. Results show the lack of problematization of diversity in this area. New contemporary phenomena such as valuing diversity require greater attention in the current processes of curriculum design for democratic coexistence.

El presente libro es un trabajo detallado que trata de responder a la pregunta: “¿Qué es y cómo vive el anarquismo en Chile, quiénes lo protagonizan autodefiniéndose como anarquistas?”. Para responder esta pregunta el autor aborda la investigación desde una metodología cualitativa basada en la teoría fundamentada. Es así que el instrumento empleado es el uso de la “entrevista semiestructurada”. Partiendo de esto, la investigación cuenta con 21 entrevistas a distintas individualidades de diferentes localidades de la región chilena. Estas entrevistas han permitido al autor desarrollar “redes” de conceptos que él denomina “códigos” permitiendo con esto construir una serie de diagramas en base al análisis de la información recogida de cada subjetividad.

A propósito del aumento de la matrícula de niñas y niños de origen extranjero en el sistema educativo chileno, es objetivo de este artículo analizar la relación entre las necesidades de formación docente en el ámbito de la interculturalidad y la violencia hacia la niñez migrante con miras hacia una educación antirracista. Se presentan resultados de un estudio realizado en dos regiones del país: Metropolitana y Valparaíso. A través de una metodología cualitativa, se aplicaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a docentes y profesionales que atienden a población escolar migrante. Este estudio identifica y caracteriza los programas de apoyo a mujeres con intenciones de emprender, emprendedoras nacientes y establecidas disponibles en el ecosistema chileno desde el sector público y privado con el fin de proponer recomendaciones para una política nacional de emprendimiento femenino. The objective of this study was to determine the values profile expressed by health career students from Southern Chile. Materials and methods: This is a quantitative cross-sectional descriptive study with a purposive sample of 242 (M = 20.1 years old) nursing, psychology and kinesiology students to whom the Schwartz Value Survey was applied. El 29 de septiembre de 2014 fue promulgada una significativa reforma tributaria en Chile cuyas normas irán gradualmente entrando en vigencia desde el día 1 de octubre de 2014. Entre las modificaciones más importantes, está la creación de dos regímenes alternativos de tributación que remplazarán al actual régimen de tributación integrado a partir del año 2017: (i) el régimen de renta atribuida y (ii) el régimen parcialmente integrado. El primero de ellos hará tributar a los dueños de las empresas en el mismo ejercicio que las utilidades se generen (sean éstas distribuidas o no). El segundo, aumentará la carga impositiva total respecto a los inversionistas extranjeros residentes en países con los que Chile no ha suscrito convenios para evitar la doble tributación de un 35% a un 44,45%.

Propósito. Examinar si las firmas no financieras que estuvieron registradas en la Superintendencia de Valores y Seguros de Chile (SVS) manipularon la cifra de beneficios para evitar reportar pérdidas o disminuciones en las ganancias, durante el período 2010-2014. Diseño/metodología/enfoque. Se analizaron la distribución de los beneficios netos y la distribución de los cambios en los beneficios netos de las firmas, de acuerdo con la metodología de Burgstahler y Dichev (1997). Hallazgos. Los resultados mostraron frecuencias inusualmente bajas de pequeñas pérdidas y de pequeñas disminuciones en los beneficios, y frecuencias inusualmente altas de pequeñas utilidades y de pequeños incrementos en las ganancias. Purpose: This paper aims to examine whether a sample of non-financial Chilean firms performed earnings management to avoid the decreases and losses in the earnings during the 2010-2014 period. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis is undertaken using the distributions of earnings changes and earnings, according to Burgstahler and Dichev (1997) methodology. Findings: The results showed unusually low frequencies of small losses and small declines in earnings and unusually high frequencies of small benefits and small increases in earnings. The estimation of its main variables, the return of the risk-free asset and, to a greater extent, the premium for the expected risk of the market portfolio, have been the subject of much controversy and debate, particularly when it comes to estimating them for emerging markets. This paper reviews the existing literature related to the estimation of the premium for expected risk, also known as risk premium, both in general terms, and as applied to emerging markets, in order to formulate and suggest an estimated value of such variable for the case of Chile.
