At the multiethnic and multicultural colonial Paraguay’s space, some people played a central role as intermediaries between different cultural traditions. Within this context, in the reducciones de indios emerged a new kind of actors who displayed a diversity of strategies in order to preserve indigenous welfare as self-profit. These were the guaraní leaders, a kind of cultural bridges as well as political and economic agents because of the daily practices they play in thecolonial society.

The research aimed to understand how students, future teachers in the Teaching and Bachelor's programs in Early Education, perceived themselves in relation to digital agency, i.e., the ability to adapt to a digital world, after participating in an educational experience mediated by the use of Empowerment and Participation Technologies, specifically quick response codes. A qualitative study was conducted, involving university students from Argentina (n=22), selected through convenience sampling, using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The results show that students value the importance of creating agential contexts for the development of digital competence, responsibility, and confidence, which, in turn, can promote reflections on constructed professional identities, as well as rethink ideas and beliefs regarding technologies, empowering and innovating their future teaching...

In a constantly evolving world, it is crucial to examine how different social agents approach social change. Within the communication field, this concept is inherently tied to the tradition of Communication for Development and Social Change (CDSC). This tradition has developed regionally, with significant contributions from Latin American scholars, and with less prominence from North American authors, who have been accused of unilaterally imposing development models. In this context, two questions originate our study: What are the relationships of continuity and disruption that characterize the predominant trends and approaches in the conceptualization and practice of social change in Anglo-America and Latin America? And how do academic perspectives relate to concrete experiences of social change in the field of CDSC in the Americas? To address these questions, we conducted a scoping rev...

This article explores emerging social media discourses around a viral video featuring an Andean festive dancer, recorded in an ambiguous situation and widely shared online. Using a mixed methodology—combining manual coding, semantic analysis, and lexical graph visualization—we identify four discursive territories: ethical judgment, performative defense, techno-doubt, and indeterminacy. We examine how artificial intelligence is invoked by users to displace agency, deflect moral responsibility, and renegotiate blame. The study contributes to understanding public emotions, trust in algorithmic systems, and social imaginaries of artificial intelligence in festive and media contexts. It also discusses how cultural heritage becomes a site of symbolic contention when it intersects with virality, technology, and representation.

In the Andean region, the welfare confraternities played a fundamental role in caring for the sick and helping people to die well. With the arrival of the Europeans, new diseases also came in the West Indies whose pathogens were transmitted to the native population, thus triggering serious demographic breakdowns. In this context, throughout this article we will discuss aspects related to the discourses and practices between the Holy See and these confraternities with a welfare projection. We will also deal with the role of the agencies established by the confraternities before the Holy See in order to obtain favors and benefits for their member and associates. Finally, we will look at the nature of the welfare work carried out by these institutions and the different hospitals founded throughout the 16th and 17th centuries in the Andean region (Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru).

Political parties have ceased fulfilling substantial representative functions. Their legitimacy lies now on their role as governmental agencies. This led to an increasing interpenetration between parties and the states, and to the empowerment of those leaders that occupy executive offices. In the Latin American context these features are particularly intense in the case of ruling parties in countries where traditional parties collapsed or suffered significant brand dilution. In these cases the president controls the ruling party, while the «really existent» party organization is built up on the basis of networks recruited by the elected leader to run the government. The central argument of this article is that Peronism is the sole political force which has managed to adapt successfully to the conditions of electoral competition in contemporary Argentina. The president´s autono...

Gender equality is clearly framed by and defined in the knowledge society in particular. Struggles towards all goals in this regard unfold in the context of a large gender gap and unequal distribution of power. These are circumstances in which women are clearly disadvantaged, facing obstacles in every aspect of their lives: family, relationships, education, and, therefore, work. Occupying senior leadership roles in institutions related to science and research remains an arduous task. The study takes a descriptive and analytical approach, drawing on official documents by international agencies such as UN, UNESCO, UN WOMEN, ECLAC, WB, IDB, and CODS as well as specialist websites. Title searches were carried out and variables identified through key words and phrases in recently published scientific articles found in open-access databases and scientific journals such as Scopus, WOS, SciELO, ...

The main objective of this article is to analyze the project “Freedom of the Word” as a generator of literacy practices in contexts of confinement, vulnerability and social exclusion. To meet this objective, two specific objectives are proposed: the first, to examine the dynamics of the project in its implementation within these contexts; and the second, to evaluate the logical framework methodology used in the project and its impact on the generation of literacy practices. The approach adopted is qualitative, based on two methods: theoretical-conceptual analysis and documentary treatment of information. It is concluded that both the dynamics and the methodology of the logical framework of the project “Freedom of the Word” contribute to the “repressive-ideological” function of the prison regime, by simplifying and reducing the complexity of the social realities of the partici...

A study is made of the regulation that considers a bancassurance operation to be one in which the financial company would enter into group insurance as a contracting party, which empowers it to market coverage among its customers, and determines how this provision implements a system of distribution of individual insurance. The work identifies the main effects on the consumer, which occur when the marketing financial institution exercises the role of contracting party; and by contrast, the advantages of regulating their roles and responsibilities as an agent and representative of the insurer, for the protection of policyholders and the centralized management of individual policies. This study is a review of the technical justification of this type of improper group insurance, in the context of the current regulatory developments of the intermediation activity.

This article reflects the learning process carried out within the framework of an environmental education and educational intervention project, using the Project Work Methodology (MTP), conducted in the context of preschool education in Portugal. Following a qualitative paradigm, the study aims to analyze how children develop skills through the MTP. The approach respected children’s individual needs, fostering critical and creative thinking. The educational intentions constructed during the intervention led to the promotion of different types of learning among the children. The recorded evidence reveals benefits in their holistic development, confirming the formative potential of the project methodology.
