Objective: Determine the relationship between the losses in power distribution and the tax treatment of income tax for losses of electricity within Peruvian electricity distributors, 1997-2014. Method: The study was approached through the quantitative research method, had a descriptive and correlational level, and the design was non-experimental. It involved a non-probabilistic sample of 22 electric power distribution companies. Results: As a result, a P value = 0,008 and a Rho coefficient = -0,572 were found, which showed that the decrease is significantly related to the tax treatment of energy losses. Conclusion: The lack of distinction of power losses has a significant negative effect on the tax treatment given to income tax in electricity distribution companies in Peru, period 1997-2014; therefore, the greater the ignorance concerning tax treatment of electricity loss, the poorer the...

Objective. To determine the perinatal factors associated to neonatal mortality in newborns with less than 1500 grams at the INMP. Material and Methods. The perinatal factors associated with neonatal mortality were evaluated based on a historic cohort of 1265 deliveries of very low birth weight newborns (VLBW) at the INMP between 2006 and 2010. The statistical analysis included survival analysis with Kaplan-Meir method and the multivariate analysis by Cox Regression. Results. VLBW were 1,5% of all newborns during the period study. The global survival was 60%. After the multivariate analysis, preeclampsia, premature rupture of membranes, vaginal delivery, masculine gender, severe depression, asphyxia, hyaline membrane disease and ventricular hemorragheae were independently and significantly associated with risk for neonatal mortality. Conclusions. An early screening for preeclampsia and an ...

OBJECTIVE: To determine Aeromonas importance as diarrhea agent in children less than 5 year- old and compare its frequency with other enteropathogens. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Between 1998 and 1999 285 fecal samples were taken from children with acute diarrhea in 5 hospitals, which were then sent to “Daniel A. Carrión” Institute of Tropical Medicine in Cary Blair’s transportation medium for processing by Aerokey II method. RESULTS: Aeromonas was the most frequent bacteria isolated among enteropathogens, mainly in children less than 2-year old and in summer, and Aeromonas caviae was the most frequent species. Aeromonas was mainly isolated in agar TCBS, employing O/129 disks to differentiate it from Vibrio cholerae. All Aeromonas were sensitive in vitro to furazolidone and neomycin. CONCLUSIONS: Aeromonas was the main etiological agent of aquous acute diarrhea in children less than 5 year...

The cotton mechanized harvest is very advantageous for the collection manual, primarily because operating costs are reduced and the operation of providing the large-scale cultivation. But when the operation is not performed following criteria, can lead to losses and thus reducing gains to the farmer. This study aimed to quantify losses in the harvest of cotton in the city of Stone Ipameri-GO, in experiment conducted on three cotton properties, used the completely randomized design with 10 replications. In the three properties studied the losses in the soil out on the losses in the plant, with all properties, these losses were around 59% of total losses. Overall losses found stood at round 5.1%, 3.5% and 7.5% respectively for the three properties, remaining within the limits considered acceptable.

This article analyzes the valuation of damages in the Peruvian legal system. In this framework, it is established that this evaluation can be divided into three forms: the judicial, the conventional and the legal, noting that they have similarities and differences among them. After that, the author focuses on the judicial valuation of damages, especially on the problems that are present in this process. As can be seen, three complex cases can be found in judicial field. First, whether it is necessary to distinguish between the fault and the intent of the debtor in determining the damages and the loss for the breach of the obligation, or whether the same criteria should be applied in both cases. Secondly, what are the effects of the damages that are or can be provided for in the Peruvian Civil Code, and what are their consequences? Finally, whether the concepts of foresight and unforeseea...

Accurate knowledge of the total blood loss during surgery, helps to get maximum benefit from transfusions. Blood should be given to the volume and rate of loss. The maintenance of circulating volume of red blood cells in the normal range, should consider it as an elementary fact in surgery patients with poor surgical risk, particularly in heart, arteriosclerotic and those elderly who can not tolerate either an overload or a decrease in circulating volume. The methods used to measure blood loss during surgery are discussed. The authors apply the gravimetric method and recommend it as a routine procedure during surgery. A personal estimates of total blood lost during surgery is worthless. When it comes to control massive bleeding from several liters, the error can be so large that a lack of action may endanger the patient's life. The total blood loss during the operation obtained by the me...

This document attempts to evaluate the strength and weaknesses of the Peruvian economy when facing external shocks, specifically a contraction in the US output. For this purpose, an analysis of the vulnerabilities’ sources is made through the revision of relevant indicators; after that, the main transmission channels are raised and an econometric exercise using the structural vector autoregressive methodology is developed to simulate the effects of a shock in US economy. The main conclusion is that even though the country shows an important strengthening in many relevant aspects such as financial strength indicators and export diversification, in its position of a small and open economy, it remains exposed to external shocks. Nevertheless, it is clear that the actual position of Peruvian economy is more favorable. In this way, it has been demonstrated that Peru can maintain a growth r...

There is no doubt that we live longer, that is, the world population is aging; partly thanks to advances in science and technology, and its application to medicine for the prevention, cure, and recovery of different nosological entities previously considered lethal. The world life expectancy in 1990 was 65.45 years; for the dawn of the new millennium, it increased to 67.68, for 2010 to 70.68 and for 2017 to 72.25 years of life at birth. In general terms, the world population of people over 50 almost doubled from 878 million in 1990 to 1,640 million in 2015. As is already known, the fact that the population is living longer brings with it the increase of so-called degenerative diseases, among which is age-related macular degeneration (AMD). We live longer, but we see less.
