Purpose: Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are significantly relevant in the Mexican economy, employability, and innovation. In terms of understanding innovation on those companies that goes beyond formal innovation, the present work proposes to analyze “underground innovation”. Methodological design: Using the data available in the National Productivity and Entrepreneurial Competitive Survey for Mexican SME´s (ENAPROCE), we made a correlation analysis among organizational innovation, marketing innovation, process innovation, and product innovation to understand the relationship among different types of innovations which are usually related; then, a partial correlation test having the number of registered industrial property (Brands, Patents, Utility Models, and Industrial designs) as a variable control to obtain the partial relation coefficient among variables related to in...

The approach of this article is focused through a historical, social, criminological and criminal perspective on the resistance to investigate, the right to truth and the forensic crisis that is faced both in the investigations and in the processes of femicide cases in Mexico. The foregoing taking three Mexican cases as central axes, two of them iconic cases that have led to a transformation on creating laws that are applicable to the fight against gender violence in conjunction with a crime description that promptly collects the gender reasons that they are the cause of this crime; referring in this way to Gonzalez and others vs. Mexico or better known as Campo algodonero, which reached the Inter-American Court of Human Rights opening the way in the treatment of violence against women, with its emblematic and historic sentence. Secondly, we have the case of Mariana Lima Buendía, whose ...

The innovations, creations, or inventions in the literary, artistic, scientific, industrial, commercial and other fields, which arise during the relationship that unites the worker with an employer, are extremely important for the daily life of society; however, although the legal framework applicable to the protection of these novel tangible or intangible assets is broad, when considering the rights that each person has with respect to the project, product, or element developed, when the creation arises in an employment relationship, it is appreciated a precarious and insufficient regulatory environment, since it has practically been left in legal oblivion. It is significant not to omit that the primary purpose of intellectual property law is to protect the legal interests of the creators of original and/or innovative goods or products, while labor law seeks to protect what is conducive...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic diversity of the Mexican criollo donkey with SNP-type genetic markers. Sixteen individuals (eight males and eight females) were randomly sampled and genotyped using the GGP Equine 70K chip (71 947 loci). Within chromosome the polymorphic SNPs were identified, determining the expected (He) and observed (Ho) heterozygosity, polymorphic information content (PIC), the fixation index (FIS) and the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HW). Linkage disequilibrium was assessed based on the correlation (r2) between frequencies across loci. An analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) and a cluster study were performed to infer the number of clusters (k). It was found that 3579 loci (4.9%) presented genetic variability, but 24.9% presented HW disequilibrium (p<0.05). Across chromosomes, the number of polymorphic loci ranged from 50 to 269 with a mean of 11...

Thousands of manufacturing jobs have left the United States for Mexico because of lower labor costs in relatively close proximity to the United States. Despite lower labor costs, high employee turnover can be a major problem for maquiladoras, particularly for firms focusing on quality and high value services and products. We used quantitative and qualitative data to explore turnover patterns and seek an explanation for the high turnover in maquiladoras. Analysis of exit data from 2,714 line workers over a 4-year period revealed two major yearly peaks in turnover. Additionally, results from interviews of current hourly wage personnel and management revealed several major causes of turnover. Overall, we provide an explanation for yearly patterns in turnover and other reasons for turnover that are not found in other papers about this issue. Methods are suggested to reduce turnover, and idea...

This essay shows the ideological and doctrinal sources that prepared the way for the so-called social constitutionalism in Mexico since the end of the 19th century. Very close to the current European social issue, the Mexican liberals discussed the protection of workers and the dignity of work, disclosing free recruitment and free exercise of the profession enacted at the old article 5 of the Constitution of 1857, from subordinated and salaried work of the new article 123 of the Constitution of 1917. A mixture of libertarian and Catholic ideas and some other external influences led to the foundational and controversial debate of registering as a constitutional norm, the protection of the social and economic rights of the manufacturing and agricultural workers, which snatched judicial control, in civil matters, (which was common in other countries of America) of lawsuits arising from the...

Three studies were conducted to explore the notion of intelligence in Mexican ethnic groups. Results of the first study showed that mestizo and nahua teachers defined child intelligence in technological terms, as in industrialized countries. However, indigenous teachers, defining intelligence from the ethnic viewpoint, stressed its social in the same proportion as its technological aspects. In the second study, the concept of intelligence of nahua mothers emphasized the importance of social aspects of intelligence. In the third study, bilingual teachers from different ethnic regions defined intelligence in equivalent terms as nahua teachers from the first study. Conclusions from the three studies point to a concept of intelligence related to the leve! of cultural contact of the person defining it.

Recently, the number of Mexicans who buy sustainable products has been increasing, which has led to sustainable trade. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine which variables have a greater effect on Mexicans’ intention to buy green products, their ecological awareness, or moral obligation, and, in turn, to determine the degree to which moral obligation is affected by ecological awareness. A sample of 690 Mexicans was obtained, and a PLS–SEM model was applied for data analysis. The results confirmed that both a moral obligation and ecological awareness explain the intention to purchase green products, with ecological awareness contributing the most to the intention. Furthermore, the findings showed that moral obligation is affected by ecological awareness. The originality of the article is that it contributes to the consumer behavior literature by providing an insight ...

In this research, the analysis of the verb chingar and its derivatives through the model of derivational networks is shown, with the aim of studying the development of this concept and its derivative possibilities. The interest of this verb lies in the importance it has in Mexican culture, which is reflected in the large amount of secondary lexicon it has generated. A derivational network allows us to see the formal and semantic scope that a simple base word can have, first among the words that were generated directly in a first order of derivation, and then in those that were formed from these, in a second order of derivation. In the case of the verb chingar, from which the word chingón was directly derived, many words were formed from this adjective indirectly related to chingar in a second order of derivation. In this case, in the first order, eight derivatives were registered and in...

In order to establish the general characteristics of the theoretical problems regarding to the conscientious objection in health care, as well as its possible application within the Mexican framework, this paper makes some basic philosophical considerations to understand what is (and what is not) the conscientious objection, which characteristics must have to consider it like so, and what other figures can take part in the complex world of health care. We end talking about the Mexican frame and the case of voluntary interruption of pregnancy as an exemplification.
