Since the beginning of the 20th century the Colombian legal system has displayed a theory called ‘antiprocesalism’, according to which judges are not bound by their own decisions if they are so mistaken, so they can be considered as illegal. When this happens, judges can ignore those decisions. There is currently no consensus regarding the practical application of this theory, whether the judge can automatically ignore its own decisions, or whether the mistake must be pointed out by the parties. There is also discussion regarding when can those decisions be ignored related to their enforceability and if this theory can be applied to any type of judicial decision. This uncertainty has produced the irregular application of this theory, sometimes even damaging the right to due process, specially coming from lowercircuit judges. Still, current and ...

A glossary of 1276 Amerindian names or name variants of palms is presented, representing at least 121 species in 64 aboriginal languages of Colombia. The species with documented names in the largest number of languages are Bactris gasipaes, Oenocarpus bataua, Mauritia flexuosa,Euterpe precatoria, andAstrocaryum chambira, which are five of the most used palms in South America. The languages with the largest number of named species are uitoto (48), tikuna (47), muinane (43), siona (34), sikuani (31) and miraña (30). These figures reflect the detailed studies carried out with these ethnic groups, besides the palm diversity of their territories and their knowledge about it. The names are presented in three separate lists –arranged by species, by language, and a global list of names that includes references for each individual record.

The present research examines the formation of flashbulb memories in a sample of Colombians. Flashbulb Memories (FBM) are autobiographical memories related to the context of receiving shocking public news. A sample of 380 respondents (171 men and 209 women) aged from 20 to 89 years old (M = 37.05; SD = 13.36) conducted a test between 4-19 days after worldwide breaking news. Factor analysis, descriptive analysis and structural equation models were applied. Four models described by the literature on flashbulb memories were tested. Results show that models proposed by Finkenauer et al. (1998) and Er (2003) predict the formation of flashbulb memories through an indirect path. The models proposed by Brown and Kulik (1977) and Conway et al. (1994) do not predict the formation of flashbulb memories in news related to international terrorism. However, goodness of fit indexes were better for B...

The objective of this work is to offer a proposal for the dialectal classifica-tion of Colombian Spanish based on the dialectometric analysis of lexical data from the Atlas Lingüístico-Etnográfico de Colombia (ALEC). The study involvedtwo hundred lexical maps from the ALEC which were randomly selected and processed in the Gabmap dialectometric analysis software. The similarity measure used was the Relative Index of Identity (Goebl 1984) and the visualization was carried out using the fuzzy clustering method. Based on the analysis of the results, the division of Colombian Spanish into three superdialects is proposed: central-eastern Andean, central-western Andean and Coastal. The Andean superdialects are divided from north to south (taking into account the dialect continuum) into high, middle and low dialects, while the Coastal superdialect distinguishes Caribbean and Pacific varieties...

Objective: to find some determinants of financial inclusion in Colombian microenterprises for the period 2015 and 2017. Method: financial inclusion is defined from its four dimensions (access, use, quality, and wellness), and econometric probability models. Logit type is estimated, such that it allows an approximation to the determinants to effectively increase the financial inclusion of microenterprises. Results: It was found that education, the separation of household finances from microenterprise finances, business formality and Information technology and communications perform a fundamental role to comprehensively increase financial inclusion, that is, in all its dimensions. Conclusions: higher levels of financial education and knowledge of managing information technologies, financial inclusion grows in an integral way from the demand for financial services.

This article aims to analyze the elements that make up the landscapes and the conditions of precarization and death faced by Afro youth in the Colombian South Pacific, as part of the sociability dynamics of necropolitics and the global neoliberal project. The text is the result of an ethnographic research anchored in the participation in cultural organizations' spaces and the narratives of young people from the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño department, in the South Pacific region of Colombia. The theoretical developments presented here allow us to analyze the current forms of structural and direct violence against the precarious lives of young people, understanding the phenomenon of "juvenicide" that occurs in this region of the world and shapes the panorama of violence against Afro-Colombian youth. We will refer to this phenomenon as "afrojuvenicide," as part of the dynamics of necrop...

The aspiration of state, ministerial and teacher institutions to achieve a school free of conflicts, quarrels and disruptions in Colombia is a challenge of yesteryear. In this way, behavioral regulation materializes historically through different texts (Carreño’s manual, catechisms, school regulations, to name a few), to the point of configuring the current manuals of coexistence, which seek in a procedural and instructional way to mitigate at all costs the violent demonstrations of the school. To enter into this problem, some characteristics of the coexistence manuals of Catholic schools will be presented, relating them to the debates on Colombian school coexistence. In this way, the present text seeks to distinguish the concept of civilization from that of culture, explaining the genesis of behavior and the current analysis perspectives, those that have the intention of solving the ...

The polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are considered as source of renewable-resource-based, biodegradable materials and plastics of a wide range industrial uses, but high production costs impede large-scale implementa- tion. In this paper, we induced the production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) in actinomycetes isolated from Colombian soil, the microorganism with highest production and accumulation of biopolymer was isolated and identified. With Nile blue dye, we determined in three of the ten strains isolated, the presence of intracellular fluorescent granules type polyhydroxyalkanoate. The three strains were cultured for obtained significant amounts of PHA. The strain named 7F had the highest production. After purification, identification and quantification we determined a yield of 27.48% in dry weight, which means a good productivity. This strain was identified as Streptomyces subrutilus, ...

This study sought to determine the neuropsychological performance of attention and memory in victims of forced displacement due to the Colombian armed conflict. The methodology used was of comparative descriptive type, with a quantitative paradigm. The sample was of 20 people distributed in group A (9 people with PTSD) and group B (11 people without PTSD). Participants were evaluated with NEUROPSI battery (attention and memory). Results show that the group with PTSD had a lower performance compared to the group without PTSD in attention, while in memory the group with PTSD showed a better performance of the tasks; the existing difficulties in group A can be related to PTSD as an influential variable in the appearance of cognitive deficits.

This research describes the associated variables that participate in the phenomenon of cyberbullying in 1080 Colombian adolescents with an age range of 10 to 19 years (M = 13.48; SD = 1.75), using the Victimization Scale through cell phone and internet and the Cyber-Attack Scale (adapted by Buelga, Cava, & Musitu in 2010). The results show that age, time of internet use and internet availability are risk factors associated with being cyber-victim through the internet, and the age, female sex and time of having a cell phone, in the case of Cybervictimization through this device. Regarding cyber-aggression, the risk factors found were female sex, cell phone and internet access, and if that internet is used at home, in addition to internet browsing time and its use. These results will help to know in greater depth the phenomenon, allowing to propose effective intervention programs befor...

The purpose of this paper is to recognize the practices of care and attention of the agents of the traditional medical system responsible for female reproductive health in the south of the Colombian Amazon. In-depth interviews, focus groups and ethnographic observation with local health agents from five rural communities and urban areas of the Municipalities of Leticia and Puerto Nariño were conducted. The results showed that the formation of people, their bodies and good treatment, mediated by a constant control of the relationships between humans and non-humans and the search for good living, are established as the determinants of care practices and attention to women’s reproductive health. Likewise, there is a deep respect for the mother’s decisions during her procreative process, which coincides with the recent international provisions. These data serve as the basis for the unde...
