El impacto cartográfico de las incursiones corsarias neerlandesas es examinado por Elizabeth Montañez Sanabria en “Perv de Gerritsz y Laet, 1625: cartografía neerlandesa y expediciones corsarias en el Virreinato del Perú”. La autora estudia las razones por las que los neerlandeses se interesaron en el Perú y cómo, a pesar del fracaso de sus proyectos más ambiciosos, una cuidada cartografía sobre el virreinato peruano resultó de estas expediciones. Asimismo, examina las fuentes que el cartógrafo Gerritsz empleó en su mapa y el rol de la publicación de Laet en atraer financistas para la compañía neerlandesas de Indias Occidentales.

El que posiblemente es el mapa impreso más conocido y difundido del Perú en el siglo xvi es examinado por Sebastián Díaz Ángel en “Peruviae Auriferae Regionis Typus de Abraham Ortelius, 1584: el mapa de El Dorado y la propaganda imperial española a finales del siglo xvi”. El autor hace un extraordinario análisis del origen de este mapa, publicado por el famoso cartógrafo Abraham Ortelius en su atlas Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, y su rol en la maquinaria propagandística del imperio hispánico. Uno de los más importantes aportes de Díaz Ángel es determinar la verdadera identidad de Didaco Mendezio, el autor del mapa del Perú que Ortelius reconoce fue la fuente de su afamada carta impresa.

Observing the transformations articulated in society, culture and communication, with an emphasis on the expanded use of digital platforms in the subjects’ daily lives, this paper seeks to present central theoretical premises to categorize the notion of platformized intellectual in contrast with the presence of digital influencers in social media. Starting mainly from the theoretical framework developed by Antonio Gramsci to define the intellectual and his political praxis, we discuss the characteristics of this subject and his field of action in a platformized society. Based on a theoretical debate and an exploratory documentary research, we discuss the potential, limitations and strategies of intellectual activity in a platformized society seeing how their creations work as a form political education.

The “Mapa Mundi del Reino de las Indias” contained in the Primer Nueva Corónica y Buen Gobierno of Felipe Guamán Poma de Ayala constitutes the introductory sheet to the chapter of “Ciudades y villas”. Compared with the contemporary maps of professional cartographers, it is noticeable how implausible the chronicler’s map appears. However, the lack of cartographic technique on the part of Guamán Poma is an irrelevant fact since the intention of the chronicler was to make a synthetic graph of the resources of the viceroyalty of Peru.
