Existen pocas investigaciones que contemplen el enfoque de medios de vida en la certificación orgánica de los productores de café. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar los beneficios sociales y económicos de los productores de café con certificación orgánica y convencional. El estudio se realizó en la zona centro del estado de Veracruz, en la comunidad de Potrerillo de Ixhuatlán del Café, México. Se aplicaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a tres productores con certificación orgánica y tres productores con sistema de producción convencional. Since the beginning, science activity has been conceived as a male-gender occupation. Despite the efforts to bring women into scientific research communities, there is still much to be done. In view of the foregoing, a study was conducted with the aim to identify, with a gender-based approach, the types of teaching and learning styles at the technological institutes in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. For that purpose, an instrument with closed-ended and multiple-choice items was applied to assess the teaching models used by teachers of those institutes. This exploratory, descriptive and ex post facto study covered 9 institutes and 396 students (55.8% men and 44.2% women) who were participating in a research project. Desde sus inicios la actividad científica se ha concebido como una ocupación propia del género masculino. A pesar de los esfuerzos por incorporar a las mujeres en las comunidades de investigación científica, aún queda mucho por hacer. Con base en lo anterior, se realizó un estudio cuyo objetivo fue identificar y comparar, bajo una perspectiva de género, los tipos de enseñanza y aprendizaje que se desarrollan dentro de los Institutos Tecnológicos del estado de Veracruz, México. Se examinaron 39 válvulas espirales de tiburón puntas negras Carcharhinus limbatus (Müller & Henle, 1839) capturados por la pesca artesanal en la localidad de Playa Chachalacas, Veracruz. Se encontró un total de 7029 helmintos, de los cuales el 99% pertenecieron a los cestodos y 1% a los nematodos. Cada helminto colectado fue procesado mediante las técnicas específicas para cada grupo. Registramos 21 especies de helmintos, de las cuales 20 fueron céstodos y una de nemátodo. Los céstodos Paraorygmatobothrium cf sinuspersicense (Malek, Caira & Haseli, 2010) y Nybelinia sp. 1 (Poche, 1926), presentaron los mayores valores de prevalencia e intensidad promedio de infección. A partir de una muestra de empresarios de pequeñas y medianas empresas (PYMES) del sector manufacturero industrial alimentario del estado de Veracruz, México, se analizan las características de los empresarios y las actividades de innovación que han implementado. Los resultados muestran que el empresario posee como máximo grado de estudios los de licenciatura, la mayoría realizan actividades de exportación, desarrollo de nuevos productos, y mejoras en procesos productivos, sólo 50 % ha aumentado el uso de tecnología. Con respecto a la relación entre variables, se encontró una relación baja entre edad e inversión en TIC y entre edad y el aumento en el uso de tecnología, los empresarios utilizan tecnología de una forma moderada lo que afecta negativamente su competitividad.

El peto Scomberomorus cavalla (Cuvier, 1829) es un pez de hábitos oceanódromos, con una ruta migratoria extensa, desde el Sur de Canadá hasta São Paulo, Brasil. En México son escasos los estudios parasitológicos de esta especie, que en el estado de Veracruz es de gran importancia económica entre los meses de mayo a septiembre. El objetivo fue determinar la composición de especies de parásitos metazoos en las branquias de S. cavalla, en la localidad de Chachalacas, Veracruz. Se colectaron 34 branquias entre mayo y julio, obtenidas de las capturas por pesca artesanal. Las branquias se conservaron en formaldehido al 10% y se revisaron para la extracción de los parásitos. Mexico is one of the leading citrus producers worldwide. This work presents an analysis for improving the citrus waxing process in a company dedicated to this activity, located in the town of Álamo, Temapache, in the northern part of the state of Veracruz, Mexico. This study used the ten approaches to operations analysis to find areas of opportunity where the company could improve; the implementation of lean manufacturing tools such as 5s, Kaizen, and autonomous maintenance was suggested to optimize the waxing process. As a result of this analysis, an improvement proposal was developed regarding simplifying operating procedures, improving the handling of materials, and optimal use of equipment, allowing the company to be more efficient and productive.

The fragility and vulnerability caused by some practices and habits in the face of media consumption and the use of technologies by Mexicans lead to discuss the absence of educational policies aimed at media education and digital literacy: an issue that has historically been pending in the public agenda and among academic communities in the past few years. This article starts from an experience lived in the state of Veracruz, which triggered a series of events unveiling the vulnerability in the consumption and use of ICTs that affects its citizens. Thus, some theoretical aspects that contribute to seize the importance of media education and the responsible use of technologies in a country like Mexico are recovered, since events related to such experience still occur nowadays with poor results.

Asparagus cultivation is highly profitable and is appreciated in international gourmet cuisine. In Mexico, the production of this vegetable is mainly for export, in the state of Veracruz it has been recently introduced. The objective of the research was to characterize by morphology, molecular techniques and pathogenicity test the Fusarium species isolated from symptomatic tissues of asparagus shoot. A directed sampling was carried out on plants that showed rot, wilting and dark brown spots. Fungal isolates were obtained from diseased shoots, which were disinfected and seeded on potato dextrose agar. Isolates were purified in monosporic cultures by hyphal tip. The aim of this paper is to present a formal analysis of the local laws related to Mexican journalists’ protection, and compare it with news workers’ perceptions on this issue. The starting point is a theoretical discussion on the current risk of practicing journalism, and the need to provide local legal assistance. This is followed by an argumentative formal analysis of the local laws, complemented by a set of 55 semi-structured interviews with journalists from the same places, which were conducted between February 2017 and August 2018. The findings show three kinds of legal protection: social, civil, and physical. On the contrary, based upon their own experiences, reporters do not trust in those laws. The final argument is that the local context matters in order to understand how the protection measures operate in the most dangerous country in the world for journalism.

El estudio se realizó en la Universidad Nacional de San Martín – Tarapoto (UNSM-T), cuyo objetivo fue determinar el efecto de consorcios de hongos micorrízicos arbusculares sobre el rendimiento de (Plukenetia volubilis L.), bajo condiciones de campo en la provincia de san Martín. Se evaluaron 12 tratamientos inoculados con CHMA (T1…T12) más 1 testigo absoluto (T0).
