description La investigación tiene como objetivo verificar la influencia del flujo vehicular en el nivel de servicio en la Avenida Leoncio Prado en Trujillo, Perú. La vía se divide en tres segmentos y se realiza un análisis del servicio utilizando la metodología del HCM 2010. Se realizó un conteo vehicular durante una semana con intervalos de 15 minutos. Los resultados indican que el día lunes y domingo presentan la mayor y menor demanda vehicular, respectivamente, y el intervalo de 15 minutos con mayor demanda es diferente para cada tramo. La velocidad de flujo libre base y la velocidad de desplazamiento se determinan mediante la aplicación de ecuaciones del HCM 2010. Los resultados muestran que los tramos presentan diferentes niveles de servicio (D, E, D, D y C) y capacidad vehicular (916 veh/h, 1024 veh/h, 1736 veh/h, 1196 veh/h y 2080 veh/h). Este estudio es relevante para la planificación y diseño de vías y sistemas de transporte, ya que permite evaluar la capacidad y el nivel de servicio de una carretera y tomar decisiones para mejorar la movilidad urbana y reducir la congestión vehicular.
