Sumario:According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of obesity worldwide has nearly doubled between 1980 and 2008. The overall objective of this study was to identify the correlation between abdominal obesity or waist-hip ratio as a predictor of changes in the metabolism of employees of a company in Lima, Peru, during the period January-February 2014. The study included 298 of which 213 were men and 85 women. The average age of the population was 52 ± 9.7 years. The problems of overweight and obesity increase with age, reaching the highest rate in the age group 45-59 years (42.9%). In the age group over 60, is a percentage of 22% with overweight and obesity. According to the Spearman correlation is a direct association between very closely waist circumference and triglycerides (CP = 0.063; p = 0.276) was found. The implementation of effective preventive strategies based on these findings, it can prevent heart disease in this population.
