El distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho se caracteriza por tener más de un millón de habitantes y por ende una tasa de natalidad alta. Según el Ministerio de salud, el 45% de los partos son asistidos en el distrito del Centro de Lima; mientras que el 55% de partos asistidos ocurren dentro del distrito. Dicho esto, se propone un Centro Materno Infantil en el Distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho de Categoría I-4, para cubrir las necesidades de un usuario desatendido: La mujer en edad fértil, la embarazada y el niño. El proyecto tiene como énfasis los espacios intermedios, en el cual se aplique el modelo de atención basadas en las familias, ya que estos involucran a las familias en todo el proceso del paciente, ayudando a la rápida recuperación de este. Como concepto inicial del proyecto se consideró la organización de los espacios en base a los requerimientos de la mujer: Promoción y Prevención, Tratamiento y control, y Cuidado; mediante un espacio transición que vincula las tres etapas de una mujer embarazada.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Health, they die from serious hemorrhages, infections, complications in childbirth and abortions; of which 85% of these deaths can be prevented. The district of San Juan de Lurigancho is characterized by having more than one million inhabitants and therefore a high birth rate. According to the Ministry of Health, 45% of births are attended in the district of Downtown Lima; while 55% of assisted births occur within the district. That said, a Maternal and Child Center is proposed in the District of San Juan de Lurigancho of Category I-4, to cover the needs of a neglected user: The woman of childbearing age, the pregnant woman and the child. The project's emphasis is on intermediate spaces, in which the family-based care model is applied, since these involve families throughout the patient's process, helping the patient's rapid recovery.
