Sumario: | Course Description This course explores effective oral communication within the professions of the built environment with the intent of increasing student understanding of and competency in oral communication in preparation for entry into the world of practice. The course covers rhetorical theory, practical techniques, research strategies, and ethics leading to the design and delivery of effective persuasive, informational, and/or participatory communication typical to architecture, landscape architecture, planning, real estate, and construction contexts. Prerequisites A passing grade is required for both ENGL 101 and ENGL 102, or ENGL 109H. A computer, a reliable internet connection, and working knowledge of D2L are expected of all students. Course Instructors Joey Iuliano, Ph.D. Lecturer, College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture jiuliano@arizona.edu (expect a response within 24 hours) Joey Iuliano is a graduate from CAPLA's Planning program (MS '15) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geography. Before UA, Joey attended Purdue University and received a master's in Health and Kinesiology (MS '12) and bachelor's in Organizational Leadership and Supervision (BS '10). Joey's research interests are how the built environment influences people's transportation choices, specifically when it comes to active transportation. Erika Ebermann Vera (UPC- Micro Campus) Professor, Architecture at UPC 1erikaebermann@arizona.edu Erika Ebermann Vera is a professor in the Faculty of Architecture in the UPC (Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas in Lima, Peru). She is an architect and international specialist in sustainable architecture and the restoration and preservation of historic buildings. |
