Si bien data del año 1990, en la actualidad cuenta con un enfoque empresarial y comercial que tiene la finalidad de expandirlo a nivel global. Esto se realiza principalmente a través de medios de comunicación y redes sociales que son el nexo entre los ídolos musicales y los fanáticos. El estudio del K-Pop en el sector periodístico es importante porque parte de un enfoque antropológico y sociológico, ya que posee una ascendente influencia cultural en varios países. Este, además de catalogarse y venderse como un producto, también impacta en diversos aspectos de la vida de sus consumidores; tales como: en sus valores, su esfuerzo, su nivel de liderazgo y confraternidad con los demás, entre otros. Esta tesis se distingue de otros trabajos de investigación porque se enfoca en el análisis de la representación del K-Pop en medios de comunicación tradicionales y digitales, y no solo en uno específico, tal como se ha considerado para contenido de años pasados. Este aspecto es relevante debido a la complementariedad de ambos y la funcionalidad que poseen para transmitir un mensaje o contenido mediático.

Although it dates back to 1990, it currently has a business and commercial focus that is intended to expand globally. This is mainly done through the media and social networking sites that are the link between musical idols and their fans. The study of K-Pop in the journalistic sector is important because it starts from an anthropological and sociological approach, since it has an ascending cultural influence in several countries. On the other hand, apart of being cataloged and sold as a product, it also impacts on various aspects of the lives of its consumers; such as: in their values, their effort, their level of leadership and companionship with their close ones, among others. This thesis is distinguished from other research works because it focuses on the analysis of the representation of K-Pop in traditional and digital media, and not only in a specific one, as has been considered for content from past years.
