En un contexto donde los consumidores aspiran a adoptar hábitos alimentarios más conscientes, la falta de conexión con los alimentos y la escasez de educación alimentaria representan obstáculos significativos para la realización de esta transformación. La presente investigación analiza los beneficios de la educación gastronómica en la calidad de vida de los jóvenes independientes de Lima, Perú, y su relación con el desarrollo sostenible. Se utilizó un diseño mixto, combinando entrevistas a expertos en gastronomía y sostenibilidad con encuestas a 75 jóvenes independientes. Los resultados revelan que el 89% de los jóvenes considera que la educación gastronómica mejora su relación con la alimentación y el 80% de ellos cree que tendría un impacto positivo en su salud. Sin embargo, sólo el 30.7% asocia esta educación con el cuidado del medio ambiente, mostrando una brecha en la comprensión de la sostenibilidad ambiental y su relación con la alimentación. Los expertos resaltan la importancia de la educación gastronómica para la calidad de vida en la independencia y el desarrollo sostenible. Se recomienda diseñar programas educativos desde una edad temprana, accesibles y atractivos, que integren teoría y práctica con un enfoque sostenible. Así como, implementar políticas públicas que promuevan la equidad y accesibilidad de la educación gastronómica, independientemente del nivel socioeconómico. Esta investigación subraya la necesidad de la integración de la educación gastronómica para fomentar hábitos alimentarios saludables y sostenibles.Gastronomic education stands as an essential pillar for the quality of life and the promotion of sustainable development in contemporary society. In a context where consumers aspire to adopt more conscious eating habits, the lack of connection with food and the scarcity of food education represent significant obstacles to the realization of this transformation. This research analyzes the benefits of gastronomic education on the quality of life of independent youth in Lima, Peru, and its relationship with sustainable development. A mixed design was used, combining interviews with experts in gastronomy and sustainability with surveys of 75 surveys were conducted with youths who live independently. The results reveal that 89% of the young people consider that gastronomy education improves their relationship with food and 80% of them believe that it would have a positive impact on their health. However, only 30.7% associate this education with environmental care, showing a gap in the understanding of environmental sustainability and its relationship with food.
