description Se estudió la relación que existe entre los estilos de solución de problemas (estilo racional, impulsivo-descuidado y evitativo), el estilo atribucional (optimista y pesimista) y el afecto (positivo y negativo) en una muestra de 164 estudiantes de una universidad estatal en la ciudad de Huancayo-Perú. Se aplicaron tres instrumentos utilizados en el Perú, el Inventario de Solución de Problemas Revisado en su forma corta (SPSI – R SF, Merino, 2012), el Cuestionario de Estilo Atribucional (ASQ - CIDE-PERÚ, Vicuña, 2001) y la Escala de Afecto Positivo y Negativo (SPANAS, Gargurevich y Matos, 2010). El SPSI – R SF sufrió una modificación de factores resultando en la fusión de la escala Orientación Positiva al Problema y el Estilo Racional de Solución de Problemas, también algunos items fueron reasignados. Los resultados confirman una relación muy significativa positiva entre el estilo impulsivo y el estilo evitativo con el afecto negativo. También se encontró que la agrupación por estilo atribucional mostró diferencias en las variables afecto negativo, el estilo impulsivo-descuidado y la orientación negativa al problema. Así mismo, se encontró que el estilo positivo y racional de solución de problemas obtuvo una correlación negativa muy significativa con el afecto negativo y una relación positiva con el afecto positivo. Adicionalmente, se pudo confirmar que el estilo atribucional de la persona podía moderar la relación que existía entre el estilo impulsivo de solución de problemas y el afecto negativo. Palabras clave: Solución de problemas sociales; estilo atribucional; afecto positivo y negativo.The main objective of this study is research the relationship of social problem-solving style (rational, impulsivity-carelessness and avoidance), the attributional style (optimistic and pessimistic) and affect (positive and negative) on a sample of 164 medicine undergraduate college students of a public university on Huancayo-Perú. The three instruments were used in peru, the Social Problem-Solving Inventory Revised Short Form (SPSI – R SF, Merino, 2012), the Attribution Style Questionnaire (ASQ CIDE-PERÚ, Vicuña, 2000) and the positive-negative affect scale (SPANAS, Gargurevich & Matos, 2010). The SPSI – R SF have to be modified in less factors than original test (from 4 to 5) because some items didn’t have good factorial loads. The scale of Positive Problem Orientation got merge with the Rational Problem-Solving Style scale and some items were reassigned to other scales. The study found that there is significant positive correlation of impulsivity and avoidance problem solving style and negative affect. It was also found, sorting cases by attributional style shows differences in negative affect, negative problem orientation and impulsivity-carelessness style. Likewise, Positive and rational problem-solving style got a negative significant relationship with negative affect and a positive relationship with positive affect.
