description En las últimas décadas, ha habido un creciente interés en la investigación sobre el suministro de agua potable en zonas de bajos recursos, con el objetivo de cerrar las brechas de conocimiento relacionadas a esta problemática, por ello, este estudio se centró en revisar los avances logrados en investigación en torno al acceso a agua potable y la pobreza. El método utilizado para lograr este objetivo fue el análisis bibliométrico, abarcando el periodo de 1995 a 2023. Además, se usó la base de datos Scopus para recopilar 435 documentos de 328 revistas científicas. Los resultados se analizaron más a fondo utilizando Bibliometrix y el visor VOSviewer. Se identificaron áreas relevantes de investigación como salud pública, factores de riesgo, educación y desarrollo sostenible. Asimismo, resaltó la colaboración entre países, los autores más productivos, y temas por explorar con mayor profundidad sobre agua, saneamiento y salud.
