Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un cuestionario sobre conocimientos de cáncer oral a 166 alumnos que cursaban tercero, cuarto y quinto año de la carrera de odontología. Este cuestionario consistió en 24 preguntas de opción múltiple acerca de epidemiología, etiopatogenia, diagnóstico, tratamiento, complicaciones y prevención sobre cáncer oral. Resultados: Se encontró una asociación significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre etiopatogenia del cáncer oral y el año de estudio. Conclusión: Los alumnos de tercer año tuvieron el mayor porcentaje en relación a nivel de conocimiento sobre etiopatogenia.
