Se hizo uso de un enfoque cuantitativo, básico, correlacional, con una población de 26 participantes, a quienes se les aplicó dos instrumentos: un cuestionario para medir el nivel de estrés laboral denominado “Nurse Stress Scale” y otro cuestionario para evaluar el nivel de estrategias de afrontamiento al estrés. Los resultados obtenidos fueron: el 50.0% de enfermeros presentaron un nivel medio de estrés laboral, 38.5% nivel bajo y 11.5% alto estrés laboral; con respecto a las estrategias de afrontamiento el 65.4% presentaron un nivel medio, 26.9% un bajo nivel y solo el 7.7% tuvo un alto nivel de afrontamiento. Concluyendo que existe relación indirecta y significativa, a mayor nivel de estrategias de afrontamiento menor nivel de estrés laboral en el profesional de enfermería de la unidad de cuidados intensivos, con un resultado de Rho de Spearman = -0.576, siendo moderado y una significancia por debajo del 0.05, encontrándose que se rechaza de esta manera la hipótesis nula.

A quantitative, basic, correlational approach was used, with a population of 26 participants, to whom two instruments were applied: a questionnaire to measure the level of work stress called the “Nurse Stress Scale” and another questionnaire to evaluate the level of stress coping strategies. The results obtained were: 50.0% of nurses presented a medium level of work stress, 38.5% low level and 11.5% high work stress; Regarding coping strategies, 65.4% presented a medium level, 26.9% a low level and only 7.7% had a high level of coping.
