Se evaluó el nivel de higiene oral mediante el Índice de O’Leary antes y después de la intervención. La prueba de McNemar se usó para determinar la efectividad, con un nivel de confianza al 95%. Resultados: Se encontró que en el grupo experimental el nivel de higiene oral mejoró después de la intervención, encontrando diferencias significativas (p=0.001), mientras que el grupo control disminuyó, encontrando diferencias significativas (p=0.001). Además, se evidenció que los niños del grupo experimental mejoraron significativamente el nivel de higiene oral tanto en 3 años (p=0.001), 4 años (p=0.001) como en 5 años (p=0.003), así como, en el sexo femenino (p=0.001) y masculino (p=0.001). Conclusión: La intervención educativa es efectiva en el nivel de higiene oral de preescolares de la Institución Educativa Francisco Lizarzaburu, El Porvenir, 2024. Además, es efectiva en los niños de 3, 4 y 5 años de ambos sexos.

Method: This was a longitudinal, comparative, prospective, prolective, and quasi- experimental study involving 108 children aged 3 to 5 years from Francisco Lizarzaburu Educational Institution. They were divided into two groups of 54 children: an experimental group, who received the educational intervention, and a control group, who did not. The level of oral hygiene was assessed using the O’Leary Index before and after the intervention. McNemar's test was used to determine effectiveness, with a 95% confidence level. Results: In the experimental group, oral hygiene levels improved after the intervention, with significant differences found (p=0.001), while the control group showed a decline, also with significant differences (p=0.001). Additionally, it was observed that children in the experimental group showed significant improvement in oral hygiene at ages 3 (p=0.001), 4 (p=0.001), and 5 (p=0.003), as well as among both females (p=0.001) and males (p=0.001).
