El estudio fue de tipo descriptivo correlacional de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 87 adultos que cumplían con los criterios de selección. La técnica utilizada fue la encuesta y se aplicaron dos instrumentos. El primero para evaluar el apoyo familiar y el segundo para evaluar la adherencia al tratamiento. Se destaca la prevalencia de la enfermedad entre los de 40 a 64 años y el predominio masculino. Además, el nivel de instrucción secundaria y el estado civil casado. En cuanto al apoyo familiar el 70.1% de los adultos con diabetes mellitus tipo II cuentan con apoyo familiar mientras que el 29.9% no tienen apoyo familiar. El 67.8% de los adultos cuentan con adherencia al tratamiento, mientras que el 32.2% no lo tienen. Así mismo, existe una relación altamente significativa entre el apoyo familiar y adherencia al tratamiento en los adultos con diabetes mellitus tipo II del Hospital de Especialidades Básicas La Noria, ya que la significancia estadística de la prueba Chi cuadrado es P < 0.01.

The study was descriptive and correlational in nature. cross. The sample consisted of 87 adults who met the selection criteria. The technique used was the survey and two instruments were applied. The first to assess family support and the second to assess adherence to treatment. The prevalence of the disease among those between 40 and 64 years of age and the male predominance stand out.
