La población de estudio estuvo constituida por96 pacientes con pancreatitis aguda severa; quienes se dividieron en 2 grupos: con ysin mortalidad intrahospitalaria. Resultados: La sensibilidad, especificidad, valor predictivo positivo y negativo delcalcio sérico corregido disminuido como predictor de mortalidad en pancreatitis agudasevera fue de 86%; 93%; 67%; 97% respectivamente. La exactitud pronóstica delcalcio sérico corregido disminuido como predictor de mortalidad en pancreatitis agudasevera fue de 92%. El promedio de calcio sérico corregido fue significativamentemenor en el grupo de fallecidos respecto de los sobrevivientes (p<0.05). Conclusiones: El calcio sérico corregido disminuido tiene valor como predictor demortalidad en pacientes con pancreatitis aguda severa en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo.

Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective and diagnostic tests study was carried out. The study population consisted of 96 patients with severeacute pancreatitis; they were divided into 2 groups: with and without hospital mortality. Results: The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative decreased corrected serum calcium as a mortality predictor in severe-acute pancreatitis was 86 %; 93 %; 67% ; 97% respectively. The forecast accurately of decreased corrected serum calcium as a predictor of mortality in severe-acute pancreatitis was 92 %. The average corrected serum calcium was significantly lower in the group of death in contrast to the survivors (p < 0.05).
