description La presente investigación tiene por objetivo evaluar los elementos susceptibles de mejora que generan riesgo de siniestros viales en el tramo Lima – Canta de la Ruta Nacional PE-20A. El tipo de investigación, de acuerdo con su orientación o finalidad, es aplicada, con un diseño descriptivo. Los resultados indican que el tramo tiene una longitud de 79.00 km, los siniestros producidos entre los años 2019 y 2021 ascienden a 35, resultando 22 personas fallecidas y 24 heridas. Las causas de estos accidentes fueron 23% por choques, 14% despistes y volcadura. Del análisis de la data de accidentes se muestra que en un 97% interviene el factor humano, en 29% el factor infraestructura y en el 3% el factor vehículo. El IMDA oscila entre 2001 – 4000 veh/día. Se concluye que entre los principales problemas se tiene la confusión en zona con prohibición de adelantamiento, exceso de velocidad, márgenes peligrosos por insuficientes sistemas de contención vehicular, accesos y salidas sin canalización, escasa longitud para cambios de velocidad, curvas con radios escasas, sobreanchos insuficientes, visibilidad deficiente, percepción deficiente de los dispositivos de control de tránsito.

The type of research, according to its orientation or purpose, is applied, with a descriptive design. The results indicate that the section has a length of 79.00 km, the accidents produced between the years 2019 and 2021 amount to 35, resulting 22 people killed and 24 injured. The causes of these accidents were 23% due to crashes, 14% leaving the road and rollover. The analysis of accident data shows that 97% involve the human factor, 29% the infrastructure factor and 3% the vehicle factor. The IMDA ranges from 2001 – 4000 veh/day.
