description El principal objetivo de este trabajo ha sido la elaboración de una propuesta de un sistema elemental de identidad visual para la ciudad de Trujillo, basado en sus atributos estructurales más representativos de la comunidad trujillana que es considerada la tercera ciudad más importante del Perú por haber alcanzado grandes logros enfocados en sus tres pilares de desarrollo que son el turístico, económico y sociocultural. El proyecto estuvo enmarcado en el tipo de investigación aplicada, fundamentada a nivel comprensivo con un diseño de fuentes mixtas (documental y campo). Se aplicaron encuestas y entrevistas en profundidad y analizaron fuentes documentales. El muestreo fue estratificado, calculándose una muestra de 382 residentes trujillanos. Para la elaboración de la propuesta del sistema de identidad visual y el cumplimiento de los objetivos esbozados se utilizó el modelo propuesto por Kotler, Haider, Gertner y Rein (2007), el cual considera cuatro elementos básicos para el marketing de lugar (o ciudad): imagen, infraestructuras, atracciones y gentes. Se concluyó que los atributos estructurales representativos se construyen a partir de los elementos que generan competitividad y diferenciación de la ciudad de Trujillo. Esto es, su idiosincrasia representada por la amabilidad y cortesía; los focos atractivos, dados por su historia y la imagen tradicional que proyecta como ciudad.
