Se evaluaron factores sociodemográficos, el puntaje GAGS para la severidad del acné y la escala Zung para la existencia de síntomas depresivos. Se empleó el análisis de chi cuadrado para determinar la asociación entre variables cualitativas, y U Mann Whitney para la diferencia de medianas entre ambos grupos. Además, se realizó un análisis multivariado considerado significativas las asociaciones con p <0,05. Resultados: Los pacientes con acné vulgar moderado atendidos en el Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray en el periodo 2024 tratados con isotretinoína 20 mg vía oral tienen 4.13 veces más riesgo de padecer síntomas depresivos con respecto a aquellos que no fueron tratados con isotretinoína 20 mg vía oral (RR = 4,13; IC 95% = 2,17 – 7,85; p = 0,01). Así mismo, no existe diferencia significativa entre las edades y el peso de los pacientes con acné vulgar moderado tratados con isotretinoína 20 mg vía oral y los no tratados con isotretinoína 20 mg vía oral. Conclusiones: El tratamiento con isotretinoína 20 mg vía oral es un factor asociado a los síntomas depresivos en pacientes con acné vulgar moderado

Materials and methods: This prospective, observational, analytical cohort study included 84 patients from the Dermatology Department of the HVLE: 42 treated with isotretinoin 20 mg orally (exposed cohort) and 42 with other treatments (non-exposed cohort). Sociodemographic factors, the GAGS score for acne severity, and the Zung scale for the presence of depressive symptoms were evaluated. Chi-square analysis was used to determine the association between qualitative variables, and the Mann-Whitney U test for the difference in medians between both groups. In addition, a multivariate analysis was performed, considering associations with p <0.05 as significant. Results: Patients with moderate acne vulgaris treated at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in the 2024 period treated with isotretinoin 20 mg orally are 4.13 times the risk of suffering from depressive symptoms compared to those who were not treated with isotretinoin 20 mg orally (RR = 4.13; 95% CI = 2.17 – 7.85; p = 0.01).
