La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 176 gestantes atendidas en el Departamento de Gineco - Obstetricia en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo que cumplían con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión establecido en dos grupos: gestantes con desprendimiento prematuro de placenta (casos) y gestantes sin desprendimiento prematuro de placenta (controles). Los datos se obtuvieron por muestreo aleatorio simple del archivo de historias clínicas pertenecientes a cada uno de los grupos de estudio. Posteriormente llenando en la hoja de recolección de datos hasta completar los tamaños muéstrales en ambos grupos de estudio. Los datos fueron analizados con el software IBM SPSS STATISTICS 23. Se aplicaron pruebas estadísticas; el coeficiente de contingencia y Odds Ratio, para la verificación de hipótesis. RESULTADOS: La frecuencia de obesidad pregestacional en los pacientes con y sin desprendimiento prematuro de placenta fue de 11% y 26% respectivamente. El odss ratio de obesidad pregestacional en relación a desprendimiento prematuro de placenta es de 0.36; encontramos significancia estadística con un X2 = 6.303 (p= 0,12) en CONCLUSION: La obesidad pregestacional está asociada a un menor riesgo de desprendimiento prematuro de placenta.

The data got for aleatory simple sampling pertenecientes from the file of clinical stories themselves to each one of the groups of study.
