description OBJETIVO: El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar mediante imágenes la preferencia de los adultos con respecto a la apariencia y vestimenta del ortodoncista. Trujillo - 2016. MATERIALES Y METODOS: El estudio prospectivo, transversal, descriptivo y observacional incluyo un total de 200 adultos entre 18 y 30 años de edad entre hombres y mujeres elegidos a conveniencia, que vivan en la ciudad de Trujillo y que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Posteriormente se les mostro 23 imágenes de dos ortodoncistas de sexo femenino y masculino con diferente apariencia y vestimenta. Para evaluar la preferencia, se empleó la Escala Visual Análoga (EVA); dando una puntuación de 0 al 10 según el agrado de la imagen. RESULTADOS: Los resultados obtenidos mostraron diferencia significativa en la preferencia de adultos de 18 a 30 años de edad con respecto a la apariencia y vestimenta del ortodoncista. CONCLUSIÓN: La ortodoncista de sexo femenino con pelo suelto y uniforme blanco y el ortodoncista de sexo masculino, sin barba y con mandil blanco obtuvieron una mayor preferencia por los adultos de 18 a 30 años de edad con respecto a la apariencia y vestimenta del ortodoncista.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: The prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive and observational study included a total of 200 adults between 18 and 30 years of age for men and women elected to convenience living in the city of Trujillo and who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Later they were shown 23 images of two orthodontists female and male with different appearance and dress. To assess the preference, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used; giving a score of 0 to 10 according to the liking of the image. RESULTS: The results showed significant difference in preference of adults aged 18 to 30 years old with regard to appearance and dress orthodontist.
