Los resultados encontrados fueron que el 76,67% de los participantes tuvieron apoyo familiar y el 23,33% no lo tuvieron; asimismo la adherencia al tratamiento de los participantes fue de 73,33%, y la no adherencia fue 26,67%. Se concluyó que el apoyo familiar se encuentra asociado significativamente a la adherencia al tratamiento del adulto con Diabetes Mellitus tipo II del Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, demostrándose significación estadística con la prueba de chi cuadrado, con un valor de p= 0,05.

The sample consisted of 60 adults with Type II Diabetes Mellitus who went to the Diabetes Program of that hospital, to whom two instruments were applied, a questionnaire to determine family support and the other questionnaire for adherence to treatment. The results found were that 76.67% of the participants had family support, and 23.33% did not have it; also the adherence to the treatment of the participants was 73.33%, and the nonadherence was 26.67%.
