Se revisaron historias clínicas y, para complementar la información, se contactó telefónicamente a los pacientes en 2025 a fin de corroborar complicaciones postoperatorias como dolor crónico y recurrencia. Se incluyeron 214 pacientes (107 por grupo: TAPP y Lichtenstein), mediante muestreo aleatorio simple. Para el análisis descriptivo se usaron medidas no paramétricas (mediana y rango intercuartílico). En el análisis inferencial se aplicó la prueba de Mann-Whitney U para variables cuantitativas y Chi cuadrado para la variable cualitativa de complicaciones. Se consideró significancia estadística con p < 0,05 y un intervalo de confianza del 95 %. Resultados: Los pacientes operados con técnica TAPP presentaron una mediana de edad de 60 años, predominando el sexo masculino (91,6%). Esta técnica se asoció con mayor tiempo operatorio (110 min vs. 60 min; p = 0.000), menor estancia hospitalaria (26,4 h vs. 48 h; p = 0.000), menor dolor postoperatorio agudo y recuperación funcional más rápida (p = 0.000), en comparación con la técnica de Lichtenstein. Conclusión: La técnica laparoscópica TAPP fue más efectiva que la técnica convencional de Lichtenstein en el tratamiento de la hernia inguinal, al mostrar menor estancia hospitalaria, menor dolor postoperatorio y recuperación más rápida

Materials and Methods: This was an observational, ambispective cohort study with a descriptive-comparative level and a quantitative approach. Medical records were reviewed, and to complement the information, patients were contacted by phone in 2025 to verify postoperative complications such as chronic pain and recurrence. A total of 214 patients were included (107 per group: TAPP and Lichtenstein), selected through simple random sampling. For descriptive analysis, non-parametric measures (median and interquartile range) were used. For inferential analysis, the Mann-Whitney U test was applied to quantitative variables and the Chi-square test to the qualitative variable of postoperative complications. Statistical significance was considered at p < 0.05 with a 95% confidence interval. Results: Patients who underwent the TAPP technique had a median age of 60 years, with a predominance of males (91.6%). This technique was associated with a longer operative time (110 min vs. 60 min; p = 0.000), shorter hospital stay (26.4 h vs. 48 h; p = 0.000), less acute postoperative pain, and significantly faster functional recovery (p = 0.000), compared to the Lichtenstein technique.
