description OBJETIVO: Determinar si el índice de Lok, tiene valor diagnóstico para la presencia de várices esofágicas en pacientes con cirrosis hepática del Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray de Trujillo MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Estudio de pruebas diagnósticas, análisis descriptivo, transversal, observacional, retrospectivo. La población serán pacientes con diagnóstico de cirrosis hepática, del Servicio de Gastroenterología (Consultorio Externo) del Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray, EsSalud, Trujillo; durante el periodo enero 2016 – diciembre 2019. Se recolectarán 721 pacientes, se determinará el porcentaje de pacientes que presentan várices esofágicas, se calculará el Índice de Lok y determinará el porcentaje de pacientes con várices esofágicas que presentan Índice de Lok elevado. Asimismo se calculará la sensibilidad, especificidad, valor predictivo positivo (VPP), valor predictivo negativo (VPN), razón de probabilidades positiva (RP+) y razón de probabilidades negativa (RP-) del mismo.
