description Objetivo: Determinar si la diabetes gestacional es un factor de riesgo para desarrollar hipertensión arterial crónica en pacientes atendidas en el hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray, durante el periodo 2018-2021. Metodología: estudio de casos y controles, que incluye a 153 mujeres mayores de 40 años, atendidas en consulta externa de ginecología, divididas en dos grupos: 51 pacientes con HTA (casos) y 102 sin HTA (controles), en donde se buscó el antecedente de diabetes mellitus gestacional (DMG); se calcularon OR, con significancia por Chi-cuadrado y se realizó análisis multivariado con regresión logística, donde se obtuvo el OR ajustado. Resultados: La DMG fue significativamente más frecuente en los pacientes con HTA que en los controles (29.4% y 12.7%, respectivamente), presentando asociación significativa (p=0.012), que se mantuvo luego del análisis multivariado (ORa: 2.693, IC95%:1.04-6.94). Así mismo, la edad mayor a 60 años (ORa: 8.343, IC95%: 2.84-24.51), obesidad (ORa: 2.871, IC95%: 1.12-7.3) y antecedente de preeclampsia (ORa: 4.211, IC95%: 1.76-10.05) también presentaron asociación significativa para HTA luego de realizado el análisis multivariado. Conclusiones: la diabetes gestacional es un factor de riesgo para desarrollar hipertensión arterial crónica.

Methodology: case-control study, which includes 153 women over 40 years of age, attended in a gynecology outpatient clinic, divided into two groups: 51 patients with AHT (cases) and 102 without AHT (controls), where the history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM); ORs were calculated, with significance by Chi-square, and a multivariate analysis with logistic regression was performed, where the adjusted OR was obtained. Results: GDM was significantly more frequent in patients with AHT than in controls (29.4% and 12.7%, respectively), presenting a significant association (p=0.012), which was maintained after the multivariate analysis (ORa: 2.693, 95% CI: 1.04 -6.94). Likewise, age over 60 years (ORa: 8.343, 95%CI: 2.84-24.51), obesity (ORa: 2.871, 95%CI: 1.12-7.3) and history of preeclampsia (ORa: 4.211, 95%CI: 1.76-10.05 ) also presented a significant association for HBP after performing the multivariate analysis.
