El sector minero ha favorecido al crecimiento económico peruano, la minería juega un rol importante a través de la generación del valor agregado, divisas, impuestos, inversión y empleo a nivel nacional, la importancia de la minería se hace evidente por su participación en la actividad económica con un aporte promedio anual de 14%, es considerado como un sector importante en las estructura del PBI peruano y ha crecido a una tasa superior a la del PBI en la última década. Además representa aproximadamente la mitad de las exportaciones totales del país. En este estudio se corrobora la teoría de Romer confirmándose que el crecimiento del sector minero incide en el crecimiento económico peruano, hallándose así una relación positiva y estadísticamente significativa.

The mining sector has led to Peru's economic growth, mining plays an important role through the generation of value added, foreign exchange, tax, investment and employment at national level, the importance of mining is evident by their participation in the activity with an average annual economic contribution of 14% it is considered as an important structure in the sector and Peruvian GDP has grown at a rate higher than the GDP in the last decade. Also it is representing approximately half of total exports.
