His first approaches to the use of electronic sounds date back to the early 80s. He has also made music for films and is the first musician of his generation to set up a personal laboratory for the production of electronic music at the beginning of the 90s. He is currently very active in the production of electroacoustic works.Gilles Eric Mercier Tsuchiya es uno de los compositores peruanos de música electrónica más prolíficos, y a la vez uno de los menos estudiados. Ha compuesto alrededor de 30 obras, entre las que se cuentan piezas mixtas y obras experimentales de carácter improvisatorio y con electrónica en vivo. Sus primeros acercamientos al empleo de sonidos electrónicos data de principios de los 80. Ha hecho también música para cine y es el primer músico de su generación en armar un laboratorio personal para la producción de música electrónica a inicio de los 90. Actualmente sigue muy activo en la producción de obras electroacústicas.
