Keywords: evaluation, water quality, coliforms.El agua es uno de los recursos naturales más preciados para la existencia de todo ser vivo, que garantiza la existencia de plantas, animales y humanos; a la vez que se considera de vital importancia, para la salud humana contar con un abastecimiento seguro y conveniente, de satisfacción social e higiene personal. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar la calidad de agua para consumo humano proveniente de la laguna La Toma en el distrito de Quiruvilca – La Libertad, para ello se tomaron muestras en tres zonas laguna, reservorio y área urbana durante las épocas de sequía y precipitación, de las muestras analizadas se evidenció que existe presencia de bacterias de tipo coliformes en todas los sectores, siendo la mayor presencia en el área urbana, por lo que el índice de calidad en época de sequía y precipitación, es mayor de 64, pero a pesar de la presencia de bacterias la calidad de agua para consumo humano proveniente de la laguna La Toma en el distrito de Quiruvilca- La Libertad, es de calidad aceptable para el consumo humano.
