Características clínicas y epidemiológicas de pitiriasis alba en pacientes pediátricos

Pityriasis alba, is a benign inflammatory dermatosis, common in infancy, characterized by hypopigmented macules, mainly clinical diagnosis. Objective: To determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of pityriasis alba in pediatric patients. Material and methods: Descriptive study, which included pediatric patients attended in the external dermatology clinic of the Teaching Regional Hospital of Trujillo, with diagnosis of pityriasis alba, between February-August 2017. Results: Of 34 patients, the most affected age group was 6 to 11 years (52.94%); males, 55.88%; from urban areas, 100%; personal history of atopy, 11.76%; family history of atopy, 52.94%; solar exposure from 1 to 3h (50%), from 10am to 4pm (94.12%); use of sunscreen, 26.47%; sick time between 1 and 6 months, 94.12%; face location, 76.47%; multiple injuries, 100%; classical clinical form, 73.53%; phototype IV, 100%. Conclusions: The most frequent clinical - epidemiological characteristics were: disease time between 1 and 6 months, localized on face, multiple lesions, classic clinical form, type IV phototype, average age 7.68 years, male gender, origin of urban area, family history of atopy, most frequent sun exposure of 1-3 hours, from 10 am to 4 pm
