description ABSTRACT We investigated the noise pollution and its effects on anxiety in residents of the city of Cajamarca, Peru. The regression coefficient was used to process the results, which indicate a relationship of increasing dependence between the noise and anxiety variables, with predominance in the elderly. It was concluded that if there is a linear and positive relationship between levels of noise pollution and those of anxiety, with a value of 0.9411 to 0.9932.

Primero se determinó la contaminación sonora en 162 jirones de Cajamarca urbano, usando el Estándar propuesto por Querol (1994), y los niveles de ansiedad a través del Test de Ansiedad de Zung, identificando una situación crítica de contaminación sonora de 65,7 – 100,9 dB A. Se usó el Coeficiente de regresión para procesar los resultados, los mismos que indican una relación de dependencia creciente entre las variables ruido y ansiedad, con predominio en las personas de mayor edad.
