Sumario:Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder that responds to multiple etiologies, it constitutes one of the chronic pathologies that afflicts a large percentage of the world population, which is why it is considered as a true public health problem, causing physical and economic consequences in the affected population. Our purpose with this academic work is to provide a vision of our reality regarding the existence of cases of Diabetic Ketoacidosis in our locality and to demonstrate the association raised between serum levels of bicarbonate and the score of the SOFA scale with this metabolic alteration. In addition, as it is the first study linked to this issue in our environment, it will serve as a basis for improving the initial care protocols in these patients, it will motivate the active participation of health personnel in the diagnosis and timely management and also for being a pioneering study will promote the realization of new studies related to this subject, which will benefit our patients. Type of Research: Observational, cross-sectional, applied. Objective: To determine the correlation of serum bicarbonate levels with the SOFA scale as a predictor of mortality in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis who are admitted to the Emergency department of a general hospital. Location and institution where the Investigation Project will take place: Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo - Trujillo - La Libertad. Duration: From April 1, 2019 to March 30, 2020. Funding: Author's own. Materials and Method: Patients who enter the Emergency Service of the Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital with a diagnosis of Diabetic Ketoacidosis, With inclusion criteria: Patients over 18 years of age, of both sexes, with a diagnosis of Diabetic Ketoacidosis, serum bicarbonate less than 12 A sample of AGA will be collected, the SOFA scale will be applied and corresponding data will be recorded according to Annex 1. Data Analysis: The data record that will be consigned in the corresponding collection sheets will be processed using the SPSS 22 statistical package.
