Sumario:Objective: To compare the aesthetic and functional results, between the vertical technique and inverted "T" in reductive mammoplasty in women with breast hypertrophy performed at the Plasencia-Trujillo Clinic. Identify complications and evaluate the degree of satisfaction in the patients who underwent surgery. Materials and methods: We worked with the clinical records of 517 elderly women treated at the Plasencia-Trujillo Clinic between January 2000 and August 2018. A cross-sectional descriptive observational design was used, the univariate analysis was carried out, then the bivariant to relate both operartory techniques. Results: Of the 517 patients that make up the study, 93 were operated on with the inverted "T" technique and 424 with the vertical technique and the average ages were 42 and 35 years, respectively. The average BMI of the inverted T technique was 31.4, as well as 32.7 of the vertical technique, the grams resected averages were 485 g and 533 g respectively, both belonging to a moderate degree of mammary hypertrophy. Complications were present in both procedures, with the vertical technique having the best results, in terms of the functional part, the vertical technique gave better results with nipple hipostesia in 4.95% of the cases and no case of inversion of the nipple, the inverted T technique 12.9% of hypostasis and 1.1% cases of nipple inversion. Finally, the vertical technique obtained better acceptance reflected in the degree of satisfaction. Conclusions: Regarding the aesthetic and functional effectiveness of the post-surgical result of breast reduction in the Plasencia Clinic, the vertical technique offers results significantly superior to the inverted "T" technique and better acceptance manifested by the degree of satisfaction.
