Sumario:The work of professional sufficiency is entitled “Play activities as a strategy to promote the development of skills in students of the first grade of primary education” and its purpose is to publicize the benefits provided by recreational actions considered a pedagogical strategy to develop skills such as: knows how to communicate verbally, coexists and intervenes in a democratic way, and solves mathematical problems related to their daily life contemplated in the National Curricular Design. From a theoretical point of view, the conceptions and classification of different authors on recreational activities, types, theoretical bases, orientations for the teaching-learning process and developing competencies as well as academic performance in general, and from pedagogically, the importance of considering recreation immersed in the didactic strategy to develop competencies, as well as socio-affective relationships between students and between teacher-student as conditions for learning, is emphasized. It should be noted that the proposal not only allows students to develop the established competencies, but also gives students the opportunity to live entertaining, interesting and motivating learning experiences, which will positively affect the academic performance of students at this stage. school.
