Características de la automedicación en los estudiantes de las Facultades de Medicina y Farmacia y Bioquímica de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo - 2008

This research work descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional, held at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the National University of Trujillo-2008, was aimed at determining the characteristics of the Self students in these faculties in the study. The sample was comprised of a total of 460 students, distributed in equal amounts between the two Faculties (46 students per faculty per year of study) of which were supplied to all those who were attending from 1 to 5 sixth year of studies without regardless of age and those who choose to participate voluntarily. We developed a survey questionnaire with 10 questions, which contained the two variables to determine (socio-demographic variables and self-medication), which were being studied in this work. The survey was applied for two weeks (from 12 to May 23 this year) for this work 7 hours a day Monday through Friday. The information obtained will be processed in an Excel spreadsheet using a standard automated tabulation with the help of SPSS-15.0, which was presented in tables according to the objectives. Analysis of the results with a level of significance of 5% concluded that: Students from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and Biochemistry, acquired mostly for self medication. With regard to gender, the female was the one who made greater use of medicines by self-medication in both faculties. For the year of study, considered every year in both faculties made use of medicines by self-medication; ranges greater population ages incurred in the self-medication were 19-21 and 22-24 years of age. The drugs most consumed by both groups were first analgesics, followed by antibiotics, antigripales, AIN, and a low percentage contraceptives among others, while the main reason stated for the consumption of drugs in both faculties are respiratory problems; comfort the main reason why not go to the clinic; good efficacy of the drug consumed by the Pharmacy and the main source of production
