The plates were incubated at 37 ° C; halos were measured after 18 hours; all disks had inhibition zone whose size increased in direct proportion to the relative concentrations used. Macrodilution method was also used with concentrations of 10.535, 52.675, 105.35, 158.025 and 210.7 ug / ml of the extract, to which was added MRSA inoculum. These were incubated at 37 ° C for 18 hours, then set on Mueller Hinton agar plates to determine colony forming units (CFU), which were counted 18 hours later. Growth inhibitory effect was observed MRSA. The minimum inhibitory concentration found was 210.7 ug / ml. It is concluded that the ethanolic extract of leaves and flowers Tropaeolum majus has inhibitory activity in vitro on the growth of MRSA strains ATCC 25923

Se realizó la prueba de susceptibilidad, utilizando el método de difusión en discos. Las cepas fueron sembradas en placas con agar Mueller Hinton, se colocaron discos embebidos en las diferentes concentraciones del extracto. Las placas se incubaron a 37°C midiéndose los halos después de 18 horas; todos los discos presentaron halos de inhibición, cuyo tamaño aumentaba en relación directamente proporcional a las concentraciones utilizadas. Se empleó también el método de macrodilución en tubos con concentraciones de 10.535, 52.675, 105.35, 158.025 y 210.7 ug/mL del extracto, a los cuales se le agregó el inóculo de SARM. Se incubaron a 37°C por 18 horas, se sembraron 0,1 mL en placas con agar Mueller Hinton para determinar las Unidades Formadoras de Colonias (UFC), que fueron contabilizadas 18 horas después. Se observó efecto inhibitorio del crecimiento de SARM. La concentración mínima inhibitoria hallada fue 210.7 ug/mL.
