To determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of hip fracture in patients older than 60 years. Material and method: Descriptive, retrospective study; of 100 clinical histories, performed at the Regional Hospital of Trujillo during the period of 2012 - 2016. Results: It was found that 95% of patients do not take preventive medications for osteoporosis, 82% have a trochanteric fracture, 83% had a production mechanism of low energy, the most affected side was the fracture of the right hip with 56%. The 30% of the cases presented arterial hypertension, the female sex was 77%; the 72% of the fractures occurred in the home, age group of 80 - 89 years was the most frequent with 37%, being the occupation of housewife the most representative with 75% and the most frequent marital status, married with 43% Conclusion: The occurrence of hip fracture predominantly affects people over 60 years, especially female, with high comorbidity and deterioration of the previous functional situation
