Cajamarca, within the national territory, is the largest producer of gold, this being one of the minerals within the diversity of the mining sector in the area and one of the most important in significantly contributing to the growth of the economy of this region. However, internal factors such as social conflicts stopped many projects which could significantly increase the GDP growth rate. In this sense, the main objective was to analyze the incidence of the mining canon in the poverty index of the Cajamarca region, period 2000-2020; in addition, to determine the effect of the mining canon on the monetary poverty rate of the Cajamarca region, period 2000-2020 and to analyze the evolution of the study variables in the period 2000-2020. The methodology was hypothetical deductive, correlational, quantitative and applied type. The results showed that there is a direct relationship between the growth rate of the budget allocated by mining canon and monetary poverty in the region, however, an increase of one percent in the growth rate of the progress of its execution reduces poverty. monetary 0.11 percentage points.
