Descripción
Sumario:This research analyzes the relationship between public spending and economic growth in the Ucayali region during the 2007-2023 period, using a quantitative, non-experimental, and correlational design approach. Data from official sources were employed, and statistical methods, such as the Spearman correlation coefficient, were used to evaluate the relationship between variables. The results revealed a positive and significant correlation between public spending and economic growth, with a stronger impact from investments made by local governments and non-financial public spending. While investments by the national government showed a moderate positive relationship, local investments demonstrated a more immediate effect, highlighting the importance of decentralized planning. Furthermore, spending on essential services like education and health directly influenced the per capita gross domestic product, emphasizing the relevance of social spending in regional development. These findings reinforce economic theories that underline the role of public spending as a driver of development, while also pointing to the need for improving the quality and effectiveness of budget execution. This study provides empirical evidence for designing public policies that promote sustainable economic growth in Ucayali.
