Descripción
Sumario:The study was carried out around Lake Moronacocha, District of Iquitos, with the purpose of identifying the environmental impact and the health of the surrounding population caused by urban effluents that are discharged into Lake Moronacocha in Iquitos. It is a non-experimental quantitative research of the exploratory type - descriptive, analytical, transversal. With a finite sample made up of 48 families that live near the mouth of the urban effluents of the city of Iquitos. For collection, on-site observations and structured interviews were used, with instrument reliability, Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.677, of acceptable consistency. The Shapiro Wilk test was used to determine the normality of the data, which reports that the data have a normal distribution, for which the Spearman correlation test was used to analyze the relationships. Concluding that the majority perceive that Lake Moronacocha is highly contaminated, which underlines the seriousness of the environmental problem perceived by the local community. The analyzes carried out show that the urban effluents discharged into Lake Moronacocha contain high levels of organic matter, nutrients, fecal coliforms and other contaminants, contributing significantly to the pollution of Lake Moronacocha. Permanent exposure to emissions from urban effluents has increased the risks of gastrointestinal, dermatological and respiratory diseases among residents of the areas surrounding Lake Moronacocha and which are directly related to water contamination. Local residents show a high willingness to participate in community initiatives to improve the quality of Lake Moronacocha. This provision is crucial to the success of any decontamination program. Furthermore, there is a positive perception towards the implementation of measures to reduce pollution, which suggests that the proposed interventions would be well received by the community.
