Descripción
Sumario:This research addresses the relationship between pork production and the average price paid to the producer in the Loreto region, Peru, during the period 2015–2024. The general objective was to determine the statistical relationship between pork production and the average price paid to the producer in Loreto. A quantitative, descriptive and correlational study was carried out, using a non-experimental, longitudinal and retrospective design. The data were collected from official records of the Integrated System of Agricultural Statistics (SIEA) of MIDAGRI, covering the entire population under a census approach. The analysis included Pearson correlation, regression models and price-output elasticity. The results showed a sustained increase in annual production, from 1,774 MT in 2015 to 2,998 MT in 2024, as well as in the average price, from S/5.13/kg to S/7.03/kg. However, the correlation was moderately negative, indicating that price increases did not always generate proportional increases in production. Elasticity even showed negative responses in recent years, suggesting structural constraints in the sector. The existence of a significant relationship between the variables was confirmed, highlighting the importance of factors such as technification, zootechnical management and access to markets in the productive dynamics. It is recommended to optimize production management, strengthen food management and promote continuous training of producers. In addition, future research should explore production costs, health impact, and comparisons between regions to enrich sectoral knowledge.
