| Sumario: | Access to mobile telephony and the Internet is a key factor for economic and social development, especially in isolated regions such as the Peruvian Amazon. However, the digital divide persists due to limited infrastructure. In this context, this research aims to determine the relationship between public spending on telecommunications and joint access to mobile telephony and the Internet in the Peruvian Amazon during the period 2019-2023. The study is developed using the quantitative type, correlational level and non-experimental longitudinal design, counting as a study population 60 monthly data on public spending on telecommunications at the accrual level and access to mobile telephony and the Internet in the departments of Loreto, Amazonas, Madre de Dios, San Martín and Ucayali. To analyze the results, the Rho Spearman evaluation test was applied. The results show that public spending on telecommunications in the Peruvian Amazon has experienced significant growth, going from S/ 51.9 million in 2019 to S/ 139.3 million in 2023, with an average expenditure of S/ 81,021,885 and an average annual variation of 95.58%. Likewise, given the Rho=0.585, Sig.=0.000, it is identified that there is a positive and significant relationship between public spending on telecommunications and internet access in the Peruvian Amazon, which indicates that public intervention has favored the expansion of this service in the Peruvian Amazon. However, the relationship between public spending and access to mobile telephony is weak and not significant (Rho = 0.115, Sig. = 0.380), suggesting that this service depends to a greater extent on private investment and competition between operators. It is concluded that public spending on telecommunications has been a determining factor in improving internet connectivity on the Amazon, although its impact on mobile telephony is limited. |
