Cervical ripening - labor induction is a widely accepted practice around the world and its application is well defined in situations where prolonged gestation represents a risk of complications for the mother and the fetus. Cervical ripening - labor induction is of great importance in specific cases (such as prolonged pregnancy, hypertensive disease of pregnancy, premature rupture of membranes, stillbirth, diabetes, oligohydramnios, intrauterine growth restriction, chorioamnionitis, gestational intrahepatic cholestasis, isoimmunization, etc.), allowing to avoid some maternal-fetal complications that lead to certain abnormal situations of gestation. The objective of the present research is "To determine if the use of misoprostol in the maturation and induction of labor is associated with maternal-perinatal complications in pregnant women whose births were attended at the Regional Hospital of Loreto "Felipe Santiago Arriola Iglesias" during the year 2024"; To achieve this purpose, a correlational study, descriptive analytical type and case-control design has been developed. The research took 209 Cases (pregnant women whose deliveries resulted in maternal-perinatal complications) and Controls (pregnant women whose deliveries did not result in maternal complications), this was done in order to make a comparison, to determine if there is an association with the use of misoprostol in cervical ripening and induction of labor. Using the effect measure called Odds Ratio (OR), it will be determined if there is an association between the variables, and statistical significance is found through the chi-square (parametric test).
