Descripción
Sumario:The objective was to determine the sociodemographic, pathological and health care variables associated with nosocomial infections in patients treated at the Regional Hospital of Loreto Iquitos from 2018 to 2020. The method was quantitative with a non-experimental, descriptive, correlational and retrospective design. The population and sample were made up of 67 nosocomial infection report sheets from patients treated in emergency, surgery, medicine and gynecology. The technique was the documentary review and the instruments were the sociodemographic, pathological and health care data sheet in patients with nosocomial infection and the identification record sheet of the type of nosocomial infection. For data processing, the SPSS software version 24.0 was used and for statistical analysis the Chi Square (X2) statistical test was applied with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results were that 50.7% were between 30 and 59 years old, 50.7% were female, 52.2% had tropical infection, 31.4% had hypertension, 58.2% were treated in an emergency, 41.8% had a length of stay of 16 or more days, 41.8% received other invasive procedures and 40.3% had a urinary tract infection. The variables associated with nosocomial infections were age (p=0.001), current illness (p=0.000), comorbidity (p=0.001), hospital service (p=0.000), length of hospital stay (p=0.000), the invasive procedure (p=0.000). Likewise, no association was found with sex (p=0.150). Conclusion: There is a significant statistical association between sociodemographic, pathological and health care variables with nosocomial infections in patients treated at the Loreto Regional Hospital from 2018 to 2019.
